Default Whoo Hoo I got a patriot XL

I was fortunate enough to find a 95% complete patriot xl after searching and searching for a kit. It even has robart pnuematic retracts installed and flaps!!!! I plan on slappin a 91fx on that i had set aside for a cermark f-16. Had a few questions though the original builder ( and the plane is very well built) Didnt fiberglass the wing center section, something I do on all my planes. I remember reading a review that mentioned it was not nedded because of the special spar. Is a 12oz fuel tank the largest that can be installed, i have a feeling my flight times will be pretty short the 91 on there? Should I still seal my hinge lines at least the bottom half? Thanks for the help cant wait to fly this thing she is my new favorite.

Arrrgh! I have a 100% built Patriot XL that I had on RCU markets that noone wanted! It has pneumatic retracts and a OS .91FX already installed. I never flew it because our grass field would beat it up! :P

Know anyone else that might want a BRAND NEW patriot XL? I'm in Texas and didn't want to ship it....

Nice plane, Wishing I was in Texas.

Looks like you didn't get around to tuning it yet, the header looks long and the gap in the coupling will burn through quickly.

Yeah, I partially tuned it, but still needs a little work to get it perfect

Hey Dieselman, are you still interested?

Here are 2 more pictures. You'll see that I modified the wing so that flap/aileron servos are totally hidden inside and only servo arm is exposed.

Ok guys, here's what I have...New in the box Patriot XL, super running OS 108 FSR, Robart retracts (air)

What size prop should be used on my 108? Any mods to be done while building the kit? What kind of speed do you think this will top out at?

Thanks for the replys
Michael

Geez, I'm not sure how you can squeeze a 108 into that small engine compartment. Then, you will add a bunch of weight in the tail to balance this thing. Even with OS 91 up front, I had to put 5 oz lead in the tail to balance on top of the battery. Mine was clocked at 130's mph with os 91 and Jettstream pipe. If your plane ends up weighing much more than 11 lbs to balance it correctly, not sure how much advantage you will get with the 108 power.

unfortunately they are. Alright guys im having trouble with my robart pneumatic retracts. The nose wheel works just fine but the mains for some reason will not lower on their own,
i have to push down on them slightly, you hear a click then they come down. ????? any ideas.

Sirs, I put an os 91 fx on my patriot xl, what prop size do you recommend for me?? Os manual said that 15x8 prop will work fine for that engine, but those 15 in hit the ground. What can I do???????
Thanks, ALex
