RE: DC/Juno F-20 Build Progress
Well the first day of my holidays rained all day, so I didn't feel guilty about working inside in my workshop on my F-20, I hooked up and plumbed the retracts, finished the epanage fairing area, glued the vertical fin in place, and also hooked up the elevator and rudder steering linkage. here some more pics of my progress.

I also like to use the Robart quick connect fittings to unhook the wing, also one thing I like about the Spring Airs is that they don't have an extra set of airlines to run like the Robarts, the Spring Airs seem much more simplified. One pic shows where I put the hand pump connection.

The parts in the kit are nice, but the instructions have a little to be desired, its definately not a beginner kit, but if you've scratch built before you will be fine it'll be straight forward for you. I've got another Jett motor on my patriot XL (BSE 90L) and its awesome, they are exspensive but they are worth the money, the old saying''You get what you pay for'' is relevant here for sure. The airframe itself is a nice design, very smooth, and I think with the Swiss air theme it will look nice, I'll try and post some more pics later of my progress.
Cheers

Well, my 2cents to this is Kavan Wheels. Do not use rubber and foams is of no value. Iuse kavans on every plane i have. Made of a hard plastic. i don't know what kind of surface your flying on but if its asphalt, if you land to hot or make an aborted take off and need to slide it sideways. You wont have any wheel hopping that will rip out the gear.

I fly off a grass field, but very short grass and flat, I never really thought about that before, hard plastic may be the way to go irregardless.
Thanks

I run the Jett 50 with a 9/7 apc. 60lx, you will have your hands full[sm=thumbup.gif] Your firewall needs to be rock solid. The plane is an unbelievable flyer. Wingloading is very high so until you have faith that your engine is tuned up reliably, keep it up high enough to allow for time cuz if that engine quits, it's coming down. if you don't think your going to make it back to the runway, leave the gear up and belly land it out their or you may rip the gear clean off.

SRV4, looks like you've got a lot wrapped up in this project.
The elevator control horn doesn't look trustworthy IMO. I would wrap a length of wire around the main axle then silver solder it. Afterwards, pound the wire stub flat and drill it for your clevis.
SIG might even still make what I'm talking about..... if not, then some of your C/L Gurus would know who is making them now.

Something I think you should consider is that the 60LX really belongs in your new demon. What do you have lying around you could use to power this instead?

Hi Combatpigg,
Could you sketch what you are talking about when it comes to the control horn for the elevator. Also, there is no need to be an artist. I like the idea of doing my elevator for my own Juno F-20 the same as Smoknrv4. Thanks!
Happy flying and soft landings!

I guess your probably right, my .46fx would probably do just fine in the f-20.

p.s. if you want to give your Demon the Stits treatment lemme know, we could hook up and wrap it.

Hi Smoknrv4,
I have a quick building question for you. Since you have already built both the wing and fuselage and have mated them together, I have a question about the correct location of the outer air intake piece's wing profile cut in relation to the main fuselage's wing cradle. By looking at the picture below, can you tell me if Condition A or B exists as far as to the location of the wing profile with regards to the wing cradle. If you need more explanation, let me know. Thanks a million!
Hapy flying and soft landings!

not sure I totally understand but the fuse cradle is bigger than the air intake cradle to allow for the tapered airfoil towards center of the fuse, just use a straight edge to line up the front former with the first air intake formers on both sides. then glue the air intakes formers to the sides, I hope this helps.

I wanted to try out my Indexing head on my mill, so I splined the wheel collar, then warm up the collar and pressed it into the servo arm, that should do it for some more piece of mind on the elevator linkage.

No I didn't stop building, just been lazy about posting, and alternating projects all the time, its almost done, just a few minor finishing touches.
The .60 LX might come out at a special time to power a S Demon, just for smiles a giggles.
Here's some pics.

Once you get tired of this, drop your .80 in it and put the .60 in the Demon. Or just get it over with and bash the .80 into the Demon. Otherwise, RVman is going to have all the bragging rights until someone else gets a really fast one together!
You could have it ready by Sunday, right?

Nice job! What's with the black cylinder head, do the LX's have that?

Yeah my LX came like that, it looks cool, I like it, I think the .80 demon project might need a bigger Delta airframe though or maybe not hmmmm.

I weighed a Demon airframe, OPS 65 with header and pipe and prop, tank, radio, the works, plus a half roll of Monokote. About 3.3 pounds. Add a half pound for reality and some judiciious reinforcement tactics, and it is a 485 sq in wing at about 4 pounds with over 3hp on tap. The one I was flying when you were over came out at 3.3 pounds, and can be floated in stupid slow - yesterday I finally got it totally flared within the limit of that field, I was at middle rate and 3/4 backstick (high is verboten territory.. yikes.. that's what I had on for the first launch). It started rocking gently and just plopped in like a leaf from a couple of feet. Hardly slid at all. So 4 pounds does not worry me a bit.
