RE: DC/Juno F-20 Build Progress
Man! 14 flights on her now and still the same glow plug, must be doing something right.
I love this 60 LX, still no issues at all with it, I have heard of some "non user friendly issues"with this engine...hence the new 56LX was built, but I wonder what those issues were? Just curious.

My guess is you aren't trying to force the engine to turn too much prop with not enough oil and too lean of a setting.
It seems like the Jetts can run with lots of smoke and still scream. I don't know if that is an illusion, but they seem to run smokier than most at a higher rpm.

This is my second Jett and it does seem they can still scream even when rich still, so why abuse them, I guess.

I was amazed how tight it was, even when barely cooled down after one of your ground runs the other day. Squeaky squeak. Nice engine, now I want one of those too.. [&o]

why do people do that when they don't even know what they are touching?

Generally the smoke trial is only an rough indicator of the fuel mixture, because what creates that trail includes the type of oil, blend of oil, amount of oil in the fuel, as well as how much un-burnt fuel is in the exhaust.
Most of what you are seeing is the oil passing through the engine "properly" without being burnt/vaporized.
So do not take it as a sign that the engine is running very rich. It is just running as it should.
Always set the engine by ear/tach ... listen and watch what happens , ensure ground/launch rpm is down rich from peak at least 800 rpm so it has fuel for when it unloads in flight as you have been.
