Default DC/Juno F-20 Build Progress

Have there ever been any build threads on this plane, anybody recall?
I'm about to embark on this kit build and just curious.

Hey there,
Search for threads on all related sites, but leave out Juno as they used to be made by Direct Connections.

Well I suffered a hand tendon injury so my flying has been hindered, but I've managed to start building the f-20, some pics to follow.

Ah yes, try and build a model with this connected to your dominant right hand, managable but a real PITA.

Doesn't that photo of the Jett 60LX tickle your speedbuds.

Think I'm going to go with the swiss aerobatic team f-5E colour scheme, or is that too typical.

Thats bad luck about the tendons, i strained the tendons in my wrist a few years ago and it wasnt a good experience.i wish you a speedy recovery. im just about to order the juno f20 and am following this thread now, its coming into winter over here and i need somthing to do on the weekends. how did you find the quality of the parts? and the instructions? ive only done a few scratch builds, is it a difficult build or straight forward. i like the swiss f5 scheme. I have a spare set of spring air gear and an asp52 motor and pipe that i will use, i keep reading about these jett motors but im just not sure! maybe ill see how the asp goes and then rethink the jett.  regards Greg

The parts in the kit are nice, but the instructions have a little to be desired, its definately not a beginner kit, but if you've scratch built before you will be fine it'll be straight forward for you. I've got another Jett motor on my patriot XL (BSE 90L) and its awesome, they are exspensive but they are worth the money, the old saying"You get what you pay for" is relevant here for sure. The airframe itself is a nice design, very smooth, and I think with the Swiss air theme it will look nice, I'll try and post some more pics later of my progress.
Cheers

Made some more progress the last couple of days, I hate split control rods for split elevator halves, to muchflex and unwanted roll action when you pull up hard , so I did something a little different this time, some pics below, I used 4-40 wire, a wheel collar pressed and CA'd into a servo arm, with the set screw thru the hub of the servo arm, tightened on a flat filed on the one piece wire connected to the elevator halves, with one push rod coming from the elevator servo, its way better, I hope the picture helps show better what I did.

Some more pics, I also glassed the tail feathers, just for extra comfort, I have had tailplanes fold on me before. The pilot is one of my sons many discarded toys, just cut the bust off and I'll probably re-paint him too, but it even looks like the right scale. I Bent the nose wheelstrut a little to try and hide the wheel more when it is retracted .

Well I got some more stuff done today, I've been so busy lately with other stuff.
She's up on three wheels now, and the wells are done in the wing, they were a real PITA to build[:@] but thats out of the way now, most of the difficult things are done now, covered and mounted the stab also.

Using flush mounted servos in the wing also, hoping to make gear doors also eventually.

HI Smoknrv4,

Great job so far. I could read these forums all day. There are so many things to learn, so many little tricks and some real genius in how things are modded. I have several of the Juno F-20s (also a tsunami and 3 f-18s). I think that I will start on the F-20 soon. I do have one question for you. In post #16, what is the last picture of? Is it the front nose gear area? Keep up the good work. Post more pictures!!. Take care!

Fappy flying and soft landings!

Hi Smoknrv4,

Thanks for the quick reply. Are we talking about the same picture? The picture I am talking about is posted below. As always, enjoying the build!

Hi Smoknrv4,

Thanks for the reply. I put the wrong post number down. I looked up and saw #16 when I was actually on post #17. Thanks a million!

Happy flying and soft landings!
