Default flying a racing agwagon Pics in gallery And Dago Red racer

I redid a kyosho agwagon to be a "racing" plane. it made its maden flight perfect. It reaches a top speed of 80-100 mph. It was grounded it 3rd flight due to flutter --- will not fly till its fixed---which will take about a hour. IT flys straight with no problem--and only needed a little elevator trim. its fun to fly. All though way nose heavy it dosne afect it. If you want to see a picture of it look in my gallery. Have any questions about it ,email me, Thank you. Tell me what u think of it please.

Im converting a p-51 in to Dago Red that i plan on kinda racing and to reach a top speed af 100mph. The plan is to put a MDS 1.48.Has anyone else done this. it has a 64 inch wing span. hehe
Or has every one bought the arf. If you have the arf how does it fly. Ive been talking to a guy on team dago red on get fact to reduce drag and help increse speed. he said that i shouldnt shorten thre wing which i agree. If u have any info you would like to share please let me know so i can make mine all the better.

Well I am running this WM .40 size P-51 with an ST 90. I get an average of 90mph with it. It is hardly a racer but does haul. Now i have talked to people in California with this plane and the Dago running 120 four strokers. Thing is to worry about prop clearance. 13 inch is about a long as you can get but compensate with a high pitch prop. Will be nose heavy at first but you will have one hauling machine.

Thanks for the reply. I am planning on running a 70 4s or a 51 2s. Another plan is to put a 40 with a desil conversion. Well see what happens. Thanks again. Nice Mustang!!

People aroung here (Ca) race the T-34's, the 40 size Mustang and the Dago. The T-34's with an OS 46 and a 9.5X7 prop turning 15K on the ground using 15% Power Master fuel will hit between 90 and 100 mph. Speed being measured with a (CHP) Radar Gun.
The mustangs using an OS 61fx will do around 105mph. Really dosen't seem to be that much differance in speed between the Mustangs and the Dago. They both use the same wing and the Dago is slightly heavier.

Default Just another opinion.....

Dago Red....you know how opinions are....everybody has one.

You have the 64 incher...I had the World Models ( RIP ) 58'' Dago with the fiberglass fuse, ect., running an O.S. 90 4-popper.

IMHO.....forget the 1.48...( too much )...or the .70 4-stroke...or the .51 2-stroke....( too little ) ideas...you'll be disappointed.

The fact is....the "fat" mustangs....aren't really that fast....even with the retracts. In order of cost/sweetness/power...I'd run a Tower .75, an O.S. .60FSR, or a Rossi .61...in the 2-strokes.

In the 4-poppers it would be the Magnum .91, the O.S. 1.20, or the YS 120.

Different strokes....for different folks....
Dave.

Default Dago Red.....

Ok, sounds good.....Free motor...YEAH BABY !!!

The correct answer is a "hot" .60 2-stroke, or a Magnum or O.S. .90 4-stroke. The 1.20's are heavy....

Good luck..post pics....
Dave.

oh, thats a pretty Dago Red !!!!!!! I hope for mine to look as good. Like i think i said above , the plane weighs 10 pounds so it needs a big engine. I talked to a friend and he said that a he wouldnt dare put a .75 2s on it, due to weight. Yea your right kinda im trading my 42 quadra for this engine with dad, i dont have a use for the quadra.

Default 10 Pounder....YIKES !!!!

Now I'm thinking more like a new Magnum .90 XLS 2-stroke...or a 1.20 4-stroke...

That was my World Models Dago Red..58 incher with an O.S. .90 4-stroke...really sweet...only got about 12 flights, and lost it in some crazy winds. See Dago Red Demise in the crash forum. I'm gonna get another one soon....their out of them right now.

yikes is right . thats what i thought. im shorting some parts of the plane. Ths plane has enough room to use a 16 inch prop with ease. Well see what happen . which will turn the plane or the prop.

Yea ive been talking to a crew member of Dago Red. Hes letting me know how things are going and gr=etting pics for me to scale my plane to. Oh yea the reason for the 1.48 is that dad said any engine under $200. Well he picked it out and that was the 1.48. lol what a choice .

the elevator problem is fixed. Now to go fly it. I just bought some 15% fuel to day so i should pick a little more speed---and put a 12-6 prop on it. it had a 12.25-3.75. hope to pick up more speed out of that. and slicked it up by covering small holes and putting a cowling on it. The plan is to take it to a race in 2 weeks to race it for the first time if it passes. we'll see what happens, ill keep you posted --- if you fly around Freeport ,Texas and want to see the plane, email me. thank you

Default Speed?

The 12.75-3.75 is good for hovering, not really for speed...Try a pylon prop. or an APC 9 x 9 or whatever that translates to..

well like i said in a reply-- i put on a 12-6 , still a lot of diffrence----ill have to try it that 9-9. can it can go on a ST .51. Thanks for the reply.--oh and the need for the 12.25- 3.75 prop was to slow down the plane on landing. but the agwagon has to land fast any how.

The agwagon was flown today to test for flutter again--its fixed. The engine wouldnt run for the first flight --was sucking air, then it couldnt even taxi to the runway before the engine died. A friend tweaked it and it flew nicly and didnt die. The plane was grounded the rest of the day due to lighting and rain. Try tommarow. Ill put more input tommarow.

Default high speed

thats a pretty cool looking age wagon. I am suprised guys with the world models p-51 and 91 are only going 105. My world p-51 with an os 91FX and a 12-10 prop is reaching speeds of 148 mph on the radar. i had to cut the ailerons in half to keep from fluttering. If you dont mind the big muffler then the 148 might be ok, is kinda big but at 10lbs it should do. i am in the prosecc of building a hanger nine p-51 and i am gona put a YS 140DZ in it. its gona go really fast and turn left. anyways have fun and remember to always be safe when doing crazy stuff like this.

well Ive decided to go with the ST.90 rather than a 1.48. I have a .61 one the 2nd agwagon. its gonna be red and chrome. since its a old HB engine. turn the carb 90 degrees CC wise and the engine runs backward fine---neat huh. put a pusher prop on it.
