Please can I have a picture of the u/c plates of your hawk, with the wheels where they are on the wing?
Also how do I get those wing tip blocks into a nice rounded wing tip? nothing seems to fit.
The T/E strip of wood is too thick for the wing!
Aaaarrrhhhh help! I don't know what to do!

DAve, Look at my Phantom : http://www.rc-unionen.dk/nytforum/to...?TOPIC_ID=1798
Then you might get the idea.
glue all the balsa bits to the foam core edges, and the trim them to shape with a knife.....just make sure you dont remove too much wood..... then you sand it to the final shape.
Thats what I do anyway :-)

markings
SJN!
Did your Hawk kit come with Templates for underside markings?
I can't find any with mine!
They don't look too complex, so it might just be a case of masking tape and white paint!

nope..... you have to be creative :-)
can you buy more of these kits, or were you just lucky that there was one left ?
Does someone else manufacture them now ?

great, saw a Eurosport yesterday painted in the real gloss black scheme.
It looked fantastic. It had a Jetcat P120 and a smoke system.
Flies off grass no probs.
It was the 1st ever gas turbine jet i've seen and certainly impressed me and everyone else. We all landed so we could see it fly. It saw off a couple of full size aircraft too!
it belonged to Jeremy Mcmillian of England!
Please keep me posted if you get one.
Cheers
Dave

Roo.....this aint no stink`n roo.... :-)
This is a Hotspot :-)
And yes, I have pinted it myself. My first time playing with an airbrush. I think it turned out ok. I hope it is a good high vis. scheme.
I painted the bottom a bit more simple.....and hope its easy to see whats up and down
I once had a Kangaroo, but flew it to kingdom-come the first time I flew it. :-( Way too sensitive ailerons and a bad paint scheme (no paint at all) doomed it....

Hi Dave.
In the hotspot, most of the internal woodwork is already done. This includes the retract mounts. So you just drill 4 holdes, and screw them in
Im guessing that you want to know how to install them in your foam core wing ?
I dont know, as I have never done that before.
Here are some pictures of my hotspot.
Nose gear.
The retract formers in the fuselage......burried somewhere in there :-)
Main gear installed

Thank you.
You had a good guess, I am probably going to cut out the foam, and re-enforce the bay with ply, then coat the ply and any exposed foam with epoxy then glass the bay.
What do you think to that?

I think that sounds good....
I think the key is to spread the load out on thhe largest surface possible......
Try ask about this in one of the other forums....just to be sure.
cant hurt to ask :-)
are you going to fly from grass or a paved strip ?
how far are you in building the kit ?
any pics ?

I've got the wings epoxied together and am going to do the glassing once i've installed the retracts.
I've got a smoke system that I may eventually put in it, and will be putting wing tip strobes and one red one behind the cockpit.
I'm hoping that because of the extra power from an OS91fx will give me some margin for a bit of extra weight (strobe ni-cads and smoke tank)
I'll be flying from a grass strip :-(, that is a bit bumpy (but very slightly)
The retracts might crack the wing I suppose if I have a rough landing?
I will go and take some pics, and upload them in about 30mins!
Any suggestions on things?
Also I'll be covering it in "bright red" Profilm, what paint matches this?
