Default Patriot-Jett .50, YS .45, or Rossi .45??

Hello all,

I am getting ready to bigin building my Patriot kit. I have the retracts orded but need a reccomendation for the engine. I am looking at the Jett .50, YS .45 and Rossi .45. Which of these engines would fly the Patriot with the most authority. I already have a Rossi .45 but the case and mount look too big. I don't want to make a bunch of modafications to install the engine. I was also wondering if anyone is modifying the wing for two aileron servos instead of the one servo and torq rods??

Thanks Ted

I fly mine with a Sport Jett .50 / SS muffler option.

Super power, very user friendly operation.

Hard to beat the performance unless you go to a 'big block" .60-90 size engine.

Never the less, the Rossi .45 is a very good engine. If you have one, and can get it installed.... go for it. You can install the Jett super sport .40 muffler on that engine as well, and it will sing nicely.

It requires an adapter. Jett makes adapters to mate the Jett Stream and Turbo Jett mufflers to just about any engine.

I'm pretty sure the adapter costs about $15.

The nice thing is it gives the Rossi a direct bolt-on installation. No o-rings and no hassles.

Drop Dub an Email at jett@jettengineering.com and double check on the price. Be sure to indicate whether your current Jett muffler is a 'native' Jett bolt pattern, or if it was set drilled specifically for another engine (OS, TT, etc).

I should have the adapters listed on the web site, but I am a bit (a lot ? )behind getting all of the parts pages up to date.

Thanks, Bob. There is note on the Jett site. I found it after I asked you above. I sent off an email to Dub.

Yes, that Rossi mini pipe attachment with the spring is some dated technology. But I like my Rossi almost as much as my Jett, and it would great to use the Jett pipes on it.

Default well-

Jett-50 first and foremost...

The YS-45 piped would be awesome, the Rossi has a ton of power and RPM's but is fat and will not fit without mods...(The 53 would be even better...)

The Webra-50 would be a great match also- MVVS-49 gets a nod 2

Default engine

Thanks guys.

I really do not have time to build this kit rite now. I may just pickup one of the direct connection F20's and get that in the air for now.

Thanks Ted

Default Engine for Patriot

I am just about ready to cover my Patriot and I am going to put a MVVS .49 in it with rear exhausta and long quiet pipe. The new .49's come with a really cool blue head that should look pretty good with my plane. I use two aleron servos and spring air retracts should be pretty good this is #3 patriot for me and i am really looking forward to it.

The biggest reason that I chose the MVVS is cost and ease of use and I am really happy with the engines in the past and why change when I have been extreemly happy and the performace is right where I like it.

They are not blistering fast like the Jett but I think they are in line with the YS and the Rossi?

Any of the engines you mentioned would be great engines for the Patriot. I don't understand the reluctance to modify it a little bit. I'm going to have to modify mine a lot! I'm installing a Jett BSE 90L FIRE with a full length Nitro Pipe running through the top part of the Fuse. Battery and servos aft.

Default wow

EW will be looking at 180+ according to the Jett Hallof Fame info.

Man, I was excited to get a Jett-50 for mine-

The MVVS is a screamer and would be one of my top choices for the Patriot- along with Webra, Rossi, YS and of course Jett!

Have fun!

TG,
Have you considered a OS 50SX with a Performance Specialities pipe? The complete package is avail from them for about $225 and I can tell you from personal experience that it's a really nice package. Works upside down, right side up or anything in between. Very powerful, ultra reliable and easy to live with.

Default $$

With $225- you are gettin' close to Jett prices...

I know the OS-50 is a sweet motor but can't hang with the Jett-50 or Rossi-53

Default Thanks

Well I thought I would be getting a Direct connection F20 any day now. I placed the order via fax on Sunday June 29th. I had not heard anything and did'nt see a charge on the card so I sent them an email on Tuesday July 1st. Waited a day for a response and then called them up on Wednesday. The gentleman that answered the phone seemed a bit anoyed but assured me that they had received my order over the weekend and two other orders on Monday. I check my email this morning and had a reply to my email from the 1st saying that they never received my order. I called them up this morning and the gentleman verified that they did not receive the order. I said that I had called and they verified to me that they had received it. I told him that I wanted to order one on my discover card. He asked me for the card number and when I mentioned again that I had expected to be receiving it by now he cuts me off and says that the card number should start with a 6011!

So basically what he was saying was-Yeah we screwed up but we don't want to listen to you complain. Do you want to order it or not? No sorry. No nothing. I went ahead and placed the order but never again. Not that they care.

I am going to drop the Rossi .45 in it that I already have and probably pickup one of the Jett pipes for it if they are not too expensive and I can get at least half way decent customer service from them.

I should have just built the patriot kit. Probably could have had it built to the ARC stage in the same amount of time.

Thanks for all of the input guys.

Ted
