Default Suggestions? I need a fast plane for a rear exhaust YS 60

Need some help. Anyone know of a good plane for a pumped, rear exhaust YS 60? I wanna go FAST!! I've got a Killer KAOS kit that I've had stashed for a few years, but I just dont have the time to build anymore. I need an ARC/ARF. Any help will be appreciated.

The Kaos is perfect but you need a turn key deal...

I would think the older pattern planes would be quick- Curare, Aurora etc.

Check the planes for sale forum-

Default Suggestions? I need a fast plane for a rear exhaust YS 60

Hi,
A Kaos wouldn't be "Really Fast" with a Jett 90 on it, much less a 60. The wing is too thick.
The approach I would take to go fast with a YS 60 FR (excellent engine) would be;
1) Select an ARF Q500 that gives you the flexibility of mounting locations for the fuel tank, battery and servos. Another good thing about the YS is it doesn't care where you put the fuel tank. This will give you the ability to balance the YS with plane designed for a 40.
2) Raise the exhaust port .030", Mount Macs#1160 Pipe at 16.5" (Glow Plug to end of converging cone) Use APC 10X10 cut to 9.25", Use 25% Fuel, Expect about 16K on the ground and a serious RPM increase in the air. HANG ON!!!!

Default True....the Killer wouldn't be "really fast"....

....when I said "hopped-up and sleek"....I meant wing
shortened and shaved, big tri-stock in the fuse, for extra
roundness....tail feathers massaged....ect. "Really fast"....

....no....but with that motor (even stock) it would whoop
the pants off anything at the field....except a prop-jet, or
a Quickie rig.... ....

....on the other hand, the Q-500 plane would be really
fast with the YS .60 in it as you described....however,

....with the heavy motor, a mount to hold it, the extra fuel
it would take to run it, the extra glass up front to hold the
motor on (might as well glass the whole fuse) some extra
glass on the wing....with only 500 squares to lift the beast.

Then....here comes along the next guy....with a bone stock
Preditor....and a bone stock $189. Rossi Quickie motor....
(comes with spinner, mount, and mini-pipe)....and smokes
both our BUTTS....

HE HE....just makin' conversation, Dude....

Since We're...."just makin' conversation", I don't believe the guy that shows up with a box stock Rossi Q500 in the same airplane would be as fast as the the Modded YS60 FR. The YS is only 1.9 oz heavier and wouldn't require all the plane mods you proposed. Also The YS will turn a 9X10 as fast as the Rossi you mentioned will turn a 9X8.

Default You might be right Esten....

....but I'd be guy #3 (the old fart) over there....

....with the Hot Rod Killer Kaos....Rossi .60 long pipe....

....a Mikes hard lemonade stickin' out of my shirt pocket,
doin' my level best to keep up with you "whipersnappers"

I'm been known to "cut a corner or two"....heh heh heh....
to get back in the fray....!!! ....

...enjoy, my friend....

Default Suggestions? I need a fast plane for a rear exhaust YS 60

Thanks for the input guys. I'm gonna have to think this over. How do you raise the exhaust port, and using said 9.25x10 prop, what kind of RPM increase over stock will I get from this mod?
Thanks in advance

You raise the exhaust port with a die grinder or Dremel tool. Adds about 500RPM and makes engine more dependent on the tuned pipe.

If you've never done it before I don't recommend you do your first trial on an excellent engine that is irreplaceable like a YS60.

Just stick the stock YS60 on a Predator with a pipe. Use 9X10 prop and tune the pipe with 25%

You'll be able to mow down Rossi powered Kaos'es with ease!!
