Default Magnum weed wacker....

Ohhh man...Ive just ordered my 3rd. magnum :-)

coming out of a 90dregee steep dive, and pulling up so it flatens out at half a meter over the ground is realy cool.....
You just have to remember too pull back up again in time at the end of our field , as there are bushes and all kind of nasty stuff to get tangled into.....

Well, I cliped a bush clean while going realy fast :-) the plane said WACK! , and it yawed a little, and then flew on. It wanted to roll verry little, so i decided to land .

this is what I had done

even the tail got it...

Nice one SJN, I can't believe it kept flying.... must be one of the benefits of a delta wing I guess...

Well join the club, I'm at 3 now and I think a few others are too.

Post the frame numbers, interesting to see the trends...

You've got the right idea though going for another one.... at least you only need the wing/frame, should be just over €100 cheap at half the price!

well, the wing can easily be fixed......but it takes time.

Ill problably glass the whole model, and sharpen the leading edges.......when I have time for it :-).

Nice, now you have a donor frame for a micro-b and convert this to a twin tail (F15 style).....

First turbine Magnum on the web..?? could be an interesting post.

:-)

How many lbs pressure would you need for awesome performance? probably not much..

I think the NANO BEE turbine engine that Jesus Artes is developping should be enough to send a modified Magnum into orbit...

SJ... maybe if you made the leading edges really sharp and very strong you could do the same thing without damage to the plane... and actually use it as a weed whacker...lol

Unbelievable you were able to get that plane down without further damage... that wing is split almost in half...

I once did the same thing with my 100" wingspan Telemaster when landing ... the only difference was that the bush stopped my plane... it made a 180° turn on the spot and landed on the edge of the field without further damage...cool sight...

Too bad you don't have a video of this... or do you?

it actualy flew fine. I didn`t notice that the damage was that bad until I landed. I was just about to take another high speed dive, when I just thought that Id better land to check her out :-)

It was only when I turned off the engine, that it glided a little worse than normal :-)

I just can't stop looking at those pictures!

This really gives you an idea of the HUGE amount of kinetic energy that is stored in even a small plane flying at these speeds...

I don't even want to think about what happens when you hit a car or something like that... I think the engine of a Magnum at full speed can easily penetrate a car roof or something... scary...

I just finished putting a new nose on my Magnum.
And I put in a one-piece motor mount... much stiffer...
My header broke also, and in retrospect this was caused by the crappy stock engine mount that always seemed to vibrate loose.

Luckily I was able to weld (solder actually) my header back together. It should hold with the stiffer mount.

dont hit your car with it....that cant be good :-)

The stock engine mount is quite bad. I thought my motor was loose, but it`s only the mount bending :-)

How did you solder it ?

is it called silver soldering or something like that ?

The product I used is called TECHNOWELD... ever heard of it?

Web site:

Technoweld

This stuff basically solders anything that contains aluminium.
It is easy to work with because it melts at 430°C and aluminium at approximately 650°C.

I first had my doubts about trying to weld this thing back together, but apparently it holds...

Side effect of the rugged engine mount: the plane is MUCH louder, and the fuel foams slightly, but nothing excessive.

I started cutting the pipe this afternoon (header is used up )... I'm still gaining rpm, but I'm not going to push it since it is about 35°C down here and I don't want to fry my engine.
I can now hold the plane straight up, and if I let go, it just takes off straight up...cool... and all this on that tiny 8x8...

I'm really starting to wonder when something is going to break in this engine... A Webra was never ment to develop this kind of power...

Thanks Rudeboy, Ill look into it :-)
sounds like your engine is runnig perfectly for you.

My plane is again fit for fight tomorrow
I only had trim tape to play with. I hope I can see it in the air.
