RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
What retracts did you use? I've got the spring airs and they don't have enough room to fully retract if I try to use struts. As they are now, the 3/16 wire touches parallel to the cylinder. I may have to offset the strut/wire adapter so they don't hang down. Or I could try to see if spring air makes a wider alum. Pivot block which would allow the use of the larger diameter 3/8 strut to clear everything when retracted

http://wwqw3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...?&I=LXJZE3&P=7 I bought these
They make installing the oleo struts really easy, just cut them to length, slide them in and
Tighten the set screws.

First flaw with my kit...
Pull pull cables are way short!!!! About 5 inches on each side....oh well. Going to academy and replacing it myself.
Only thing I can think of is either they were supposed to have two pieces in their or they sent me really short piece!! Lol

Wouldn't the wire struts be lighter than the robostruts? I'm very impressed with the durability of the Robart wire struts that my BTE Reaction 54 had. Seemed a lot less trouble than my buddy's robostruts

Not sure that I would recommend that plastic shaft jr DS-821 for the rudder/steering servo. I was just trying to get the end points set an the lil thing just twisted in two. Brand new Jr servo!! Never had this happen...... Think I'll put a metel gear/shaft an be done with it.....

I also had shorts cables, bt, I had more cable in the shop so that was no big deal. So far the build is going great. I will post some pictures later!!

Okay Guys;
A few pictures of my Jackal 50 build. I am taking my time on this one. Now that daylight saving is gone, I don't see this baby flying before spring. That will give me time to break in the engine right.

A few more pics!!
One thing I just ran into, on the wings fit to the fuse. My wings will not fit tight to the fuse. Now if I take the wing tube out, the wings fit, the wing bolt fall right into place. Now if I go to slide the tube in the other side, it will not slide into the other wing!! Put the tube back into the left, ( and also right ), wing, there is a 1/8 gap between the front pin and the fuse, plus the wing bolt will not line up with the nut. Anyone else have or had this problem with their wings on the Jackal 50?? Thanks guys for any reply to my question.

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Just finished the last of the build. Other than moving the batt forward to balance it, and add some triangle stock to the firewall, I'm ready for some nice weather Sunday to burn some slime juice. Ended up robbing the Jett 50 off the ol kit built Patriot so I'm ready to see the difference. Funny thing though. Once I placed the patriot just above the jackal under the light, it looks pretty much the same
Wing size an design... At least from the top profile The jackal definately is longer an sleeker though

Hi Guys;
The build is done!!! Now I have to wait for the missing parts to the landing gear to come in so I can finish the retract setup. Now to read up on how to break in this engine!! I have read the engine manual cover to cover and saw notthing about engine break-in. This weekend I will be on the web looking for tips on how to break-in this engine. I must say that Hangar 9 did a very good job with this plane. The manual walk you step by step during the build. The only hard part was the rudder hook-up. My hands was just to big!!!
Now to break this motor in and see what this plane can do!!!

Hey Sonny,
If you check out the reviews of the engine at http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...600#reviewsTab If you look at zoaartcc's review, they state that they contacted Horizon about the break-in procedure and was told that it does not need to be broken in, just tuned and flown. You may want to contact Horizon yourself to verify, but just wanted to give you a heads up.

My wings wouldn't fit either.I had to sand the wing saddle on one side and the hold down tab on the other side.

I did the same to my wings and now they fit like a glove!!!
This is going to be a fun plane!!!

Took the bird out for a maiden. Flew great with a few clicks of up elevator. However, I'm really disappointed in the painted cowel. After I landed to check things I noticed that the nitro was eating away at the paint on the cowel. Even the seagull planes that I used to fly never pealed.......

what did you do to minimize the gap between the two wing halves ?
