Ok...Thx...so does everyone agree? Use the numbers in the manual with the fairing removed?

A big welcome to the Jackal 50 club!!! I use the number from the manual with the fairing removed. My baby is a tad nose heavy, but, I like my planes that way. You will have a blast flying her!!! HAve fun!!!

Dubb does not recommend breaking in the Jett 56 on a plane. But I have been reading that it runs good on a test stand but when put on the plane many have had issues. I will try it this weekend and see how it goes.

That's what it is sounding like. And thanks for the heads up, too, TXshan. It'll be a while before I'm able to test mine on the actual plane. It really settled down nicely on the test stand after 1/2 gallon and timeon it.I'm not expecting it to perform in the air as it did on the benchuntil after a good gallon or so of fuel.
For now I am just going to use the stock tank and lots of foam to protect it.(Should probably order a bubble resistant tank.) Anyone have any run times to set my radio flight timerto for the Jett .56 and stock tank? It'd be a nice refference starting point. "Probably 9minutes?"
Good luck on the maiden Titan!

Phil I ordered the 12oz from Jett but it was too big. So I will try the stock one and see what happens while I wait for a 10 oz jett tank. I don't think you will get 9 minutes with 10 oz and running rich more like 7 maybe.

Rich,
Keep me posted and I'd like to hear how that 10oz fits.I think early on in the thread the guys had to really work with the plane to get it in there.I'll have to look back in the thread.Heck, I'll proably just order one too.Your sounding more commonsensical than my optimistic run-time thinking. "I bet your right with a maybe @7."

I am running a 10x6 on evo 60 and jett muffler at sea level, and I can't get more than 14600 out of it! Gonna try and remove a shim and see got 3 in now at 2.25 turns, she just won't lean out any more than that. Just gets too hott!

I am at 460 feet above sea level and on the stand, my Evo .60nx with a 10x6 APC prop on 15% nitro cool power, I am getting 15.6 to 16.0 when the pipe hit. My head temp is right around 290 to 300 degs. Some people may say this could be a bit hit temp for this engine, but, so far she is running good.

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
It went!!!! Thought it would have been a bit faster, but got to get the engine leaned out and broken in, however it flies just like the preview. Seems a touch on the heavy side and nose heavy I only have 1/4 oz on the tail to balance it out. I may put more. Can't believe how loud that tuned pipe is! My ears are still ringing, but the blazing pass with the exhaust trail was crazy good! Word to the wise, the engine stalled out on my downwind and I had to dead stick it down. Make sure you keep lots of speed and the flaps down if you happen to have a dead stick. Has anyone had problems with the pull/pull cables binding on the nose wheel steering arms? If so, any recommended fixes? Would have had better pics but the wife left me with dead batteries in the camera...it shut down after 4.[sm=punching.gif]

Readings fromnear Waco, Texas elevation approximately 500 ft. 60NX, EVO/Jett blue muffler, Powermaster 15% blend:
APC 10x6 16,900 rpm
APC 11x615,300 rpm
APC 10x815,200 rpm
Any heavier prop and the engine would not stage on the pipe, but the engine was new. This was during break-in and brief peak readings. The engine is as it came out of the box. The engine currently resides in a Hanger 9 Phoenix 7 with excellent performance.

Hi Guys;
Well a little bit of bad news from today.[][] Found out today that my club has a noise rule of 98 db max. My Jackal 50 is well over that rule. She come in on the noise meter at 115 to 120 db's, so now I have to find another place to fly her!![] The club pres and the rest of the members are okay with me flying her at our club field, but, we have a person that live near the field who keep a close eye on how much noise we make. So to make everyone happy, the Jackal will be parked untill I find a new place to fly her!!! Now to find a old close airport to play in!!! Now I know why my ears ring!!!!!

Sonny we hired an audio engineer for about 1500$. The levels in your particular city might be less than that. Ours was at the property line 56db allowed by the state. We had 3 planes flying to test the noise levels including a plane with a tune pipe and giant scale 50cc. We came in way below that state required level. I think the highest sound was about 48db. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't give up just yet on your field. Consider a Macs Quiet pipe #1050, it's even quieter than the #1250 that Evo lists in the manual and at about the same power peak as each other but the Quiet pipes have better transition. The pipes when tuned, should give you a tad more power than the blue muffler. I'm almost sure the header, # 2593 will fit and give you a 15 degree droop to get the pipe more centered under the fuselage, if that's what you want.
At this point, it'll be prop noise, so stick with APC props in this high rpm range.

Broke in the Jett 56 today while on the plane. Ran very rich at 1st. 2nd tank leaned it out till it reached 14k. Used an APC 9x6 when it reached 16 k this thing was loud and I could see the foam being formed in the stock tank. Only used foam underneath maybe should put foam all around. Looking at he Tetras tanks Jett has 8 oz and 12oz the 12 is too big. The foam at 16k was like dish soap and it leaned the engine so I was not able to maiden her. Engine is a monster, nough said. Here are some pics. I'm using the 302 Spring Air which are awesome.

Hi there, If you set the elevator servo and control arms up as per the manual...you will never get the full deflection as stated in the manual. Follow the installation and it will be just fine. I did and test flew it the other day, i know the travel doesn't look like much but it is more than enough for flying. The manual throws appear to be a touch over zealous! She has more than enough travel despite the max throws in the manual.

Trust me, I will not give up flying this bird. Thanks for the info in your last post. Its just the one guy who don't like our field owner. Like you, I also run APC props!!!
Thanks, again for the info!!!
