Well, I went ahead and returned my electric retracts and ordered the han500 robarts with spring down. Apparently these are the ones they have been using for testing. Horizon had them in stock. They are HAN500 at horizon..just fyi

Guys, You caught us - the manual is a misprint on the wingspan.
Guys, You caught us - the manual is a misprint on the wingspan.
I must tell you, I do like this plane and will buy one when they come out!! I download the manual and I have one question. On the elevator, the servo tray has two slots for servos and the manual say not to use two servos! My question is, if I went with two servo for the elevator would that move the C G alot?? The slots for the servos are not full size, right??
In your vid, the plane fly so sweet and smooth. I am not to much in speed, but, to me this plane will be fun to fly!!
Thanks for your answer and all the good planes that your company put out!!
Thanks, again!!

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Hi Sonny,
The rear hatch has two full size servo openings. While developing the model we were not sure if we were going to need additional weight in the tail to maintain C/G so we set up the tail for 2 servos. We ended up not needing the 2nd servo, but we decided to leave the 2nd opening which would allow for placement of a 2nd servo for those guys choosing to install a heavier engine than shown in the manual.
A 2nd servo in the tail would move the C/G quite a lot considering the moment arm for the location of the added 2+ oz. for the additioanal servo. I would use 2 mini servos and make an adapter plate to reduce the size of the servo opening if I was going to install 2 servos.
The Jackal behaves quite well at any speed and although it was designed with speed in mind,. but I do like to fly it around at a reduced throttle setting doing low slow flight like horizontal figure 8's with the flaps down. Looks really cool down close to the tops of the corn.

Pulled out the patriot with my Jett 50 today at our fly in to get re-inspired. After a few near wingtip drags, I'm really excited to get the jackal tuned an dialed in. I feel the need, the need for speed!!!! Come on October!!!!!

Yeah, everyone just stopped an watched. I think I started a lil buzz with the Jackal setup. Lighter, thinner cross-section an less drag is going to make this thing a bullet!!!!! However, I do love the poweroff glide approach. Hope the jackal isn't too hot on approach....

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Can you send me a link on that valve? A buddy of mine showed me a one way quick disconnect to charge his air tank on his jets. Makes it nice not to have to use the brass screw-in tap. Also, with the redesigned easy off cockpit, it's going to be nice to hide all the switches, charge ports, an air connects right under the hatch. Hate to butcher a nice plane just to install the unsightly Rc garb....

robby,
i'm using an 85 for the retract valve........is the 48 lighter and smaller.
also, don't hesitate to send SA an email or two to make sure they drop your gear in the mail.
they sometimes lag on getting things out the door right away even though they have them in stock.
Bill is a great guy to talk too as well.

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
So it seems like a lot of you are going with the pneumatic route. I was talking with a buddy at the field this weekend who is big on the turbines. He suggested I go with mechanical because of all the issue that happen with the air stuff. What do you guys think? I have a little warbird that uses mechanical retracts. They seem to work ok, just noisy. I was thinking of going with air on the jackal just for something different, but I don't want drive myself nuts looking for leaks all the time.

I have a Top Flite AT-6 Texan with pneumatic gear system that have a leak that I can not find and yes it drive me nuts. Download the manual and see how the retract look in this bird. I would love to go all electric gear system on this bird, That why I will have a peace of mind and just have a blast flying this bird. I will see if I can find that website and post the link!!

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
what issue with the air are they having?
the SA systems i use are all tested by pumping up to 100lbs, then left for a day with the gear in the retracted posistion. none of them have lost so much as a pound of air pressure.
even if they lose all the air, they come down and lock in place.
mechanicals work great too if they are installed properly, and personally i have never seen a set fail.
the only thing i have witnessed was a friend had one leg hang up, and that was due to a misaligned push/pull linkage.
air systems are just easier to install, and you have less to worry about such as a stalled retract servo, but there again, retract servos operate on going from one direction to the other. only thing that would stall them is a bad install.

Sounds like your actuator or one way may be leaking

Nice, but at $345 for 3 wheels, it's a little pricey for me.

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
I was advised that E-Flite has a set of 25-46 units coming that will drop right in the Jack with just a little work. Me thinks they will be BUNCHES cheaper then Lado or the likes.
Perhaps Bill could chime in here and set us straight.

I was looking on E-Flite website at their system today and was thinking the same thing. For me, I am looking how to keeping the weight as per the manual!!
Yes, Bill, please fill us in!!!!
