Beautiful bird!!! Got to pull my Jackal out of the loft and get her ready for this flying year. I wish Hangar 9 would bring this plane back!! All swat meet I go to, I keep a eye for one, just to have a backup to this bird.

Thank you, Sonny! I've got to agree with you about bringing this bird back, I would definitely buy another and put it away. This my second, I had about 10 or 12 flights on the original and caught a branch on final with one of our larger, bordering trees. (Both plane and tree have since been burned, lol)

What happened Quigley?

I fly my Jackal every chance I get. Still have one in the box as a back-up. It's a great plane. Not without problems, but one of the most enjoyable planes I've owned. Great flight envelope and lands like a butterfly with sore feet. Wasn't happy with the EVO engine. Pretty happy with the OS. Not as fast but very reliable with perfect idle.

Well it did one lap,it lost one engine just after take off ,it almost got it back on the strip but missed. List of damage Both wings are beyond repair. both the fuselages are almost undamaged. Cowls one perfect one slight damaged. The two canopies will need some work. but in the end will be OK both motor mounts are broken.
The rebuild ,well I will rebuild the two outer wings ,adding to the wing span,not sure how much bigger but there will be a bigger wing spanj, The center section will be increace by around 2 to 3 inches. As for the tail plain there will be more elevator area. O yes flaps on the center wing.
The motors will be something that I'm more in touch with Either OS 55 or 65 AXs
Yes it was disapointing but thats the nature of the hobby. One Question to all Has anybody built a set of wings. As there is nothing in the Hanger 9 built ones in the way of strengh. Yours Paul T

Well Gorden I'm of the age and need to ask what a dxf file is. But thanks for your reply. I intend to do some thought about the actual size wing I will need and the number of ribs then cut the damaged wing into lengths say 1 and 1 half inches apart then build the wing with 2 inch spaces. the wing slices should give great rib templates. a bit simple but its the way i made the center wing ribs. I will also work out how to build more strength into the frame of the new wings with something to put the undercarrage onto..
I'm always up to some help when it comes to the clever bit in building so dont hole back. Yours Paul T

Oh my fault, DXf is a format that most Auto CAD program or even Corel draw can read...see screenshot, so you can print out, you have the plan, position of ribs etc , plus you can cut the ribs and build the wing all on your own :-)

Finally maidened her! I only got one flight in yesterday as the wind kicked up quickly. It is a bit nose heavy and required some up trim, but other than that she flew great. When the gear was retracted, I believe she climbed a bit. I tested the flaps at 1/4 of the recommended travel and she went darn near vertical! Anyone know if this is typical or caused by not applying full flaps from the start? I don't recall my first one acting like that and I did the best that I could to set all throws the same as the first one. Weather looks good this am and I plan to try to get some more time on her and maybe a go-pro video with the head gear.

I know this thread is pretty dead but wanted to post my findings.

So I decided to convert my Hangar 9 Jackal to gas since I wanted longer flight times. Before I was flying it on a Evolution 60nx with Jett pipe and would get about 130mph on a 10x8 (14,700rpm ground). The challenge would be to get the rpms up on the Evolution 10cc.

So stock on the ground with the stock muffler my rpms were 12,800. Which was close to what I was getting with the 60nx with the stock muffler.

I then decided to put the Jett pipe. GLAD I DID

Now getting 14,300rpms on the ground with the 10cc.

The Jett pipe made a 1,500rpm difference

Wanted to post this since I looked every where to see if someone had tried this combo.

Put an 8oz tank where the stock tank was and also put the ignition in the same spot. According to the 10cc manual I would be able to fly 24 minutes at full throttle on the 8oz tank.

I haven't finished my repairs yet due to my shoulder injury. Bad decision on a landing approach, stalling it close to ground, tearing up landing gear mounts and cracked one wing panel. It has been repaired and strengthened, but still needs fine sanded and covering.

Well, got two flights in today and it was a success! Both flights were 10 minutes and had a top speed of 138mph. Vertical was unlimited and the Jackal flew great!!! It is a keeper.

Wow, will wonders never cease! After 4 trips around the Lebanon, PA RC flea market this morning I spied a NIB Jackal! I still cannot believe that I walked past it 3 times and the price was reduced by the time that I saw it! Now, my dilemma is do I keep it as a spare, since it is out of production or put it up for sale to help finance my new radio? What do you guys think?
