Covering a Diamond Dust
The last one that I had I covered with Monocoat. I put two layers on the bottom and had over 100 flights before selling it. I had a Picco 45 (piped) on it and experienced speeds in the upper 100's and probably broke 200 in some dives and never had any trouble with it. All landings were on a grass field and allowed to settle in gently. I have heard that oracover is a good choice for durability.

Mine was Monokote also.
What I did to prevent the covering from blowing off was cover the bottom first. Where the covering wrapped around the LE rod, I left it extra long and stuck it back to itself on the inside so the LE rod was completely encased in covering. Then I covered the top and left enough covering to wrap around to the bottom a couple of inches.
I covered the bottom in one piece and the top in one piece and added trim colors so I didn't have any seams.
It survived many flights, only crashing when it hit the ground WFO.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll go with the Monokote also. I have a basment full of it. I must have had a tear on the bottom. I guess I need to get in the habit of doing an inspection before I fly.
I may try some of that stick on checkerboard stuff for the part of the bottom.

Dust 'landing gear'
Again, at the suggestion of the mfg. I used Ultarcoat, and ran two strips of 2" clear packing tape on the bottom of the plane, from the engine bay, back a foot or so...works great, and is cheap. Also, like one of the other guys suggested, I let it touch down on the grass at close to stall. It rarely slides more than 8 or 10 feet.
Have fun!
