Need your help for building a fast plane.
 

Hello guys! Just found this thread about fast planes and I think you are everything that someone needs for this!!!

Let me tell you what I need to know. I want to built a fast plane, an extreme speed plane hehehe! So I have found a plane that can handle high speed,
it is the all composite from Extreme Composites LR-1 The Racing Devil

I don't have the plane specs because their website is not online anymore, but I will edit and post it here if I found them again.

Motors in mind (will be used with 200amp ESC):

ARC 36-55-1.5 1850kv used this in a multiplex funjet ultra with 6s and 200amp esc. Awesome, loved it, screamer!
Tenshock 1540/10 2290kv haven't use it but is very powerfull, a local hobby shop advised.
HET 650-58-1970 TYPHOON a guy gave me link for this one, looks good.

All these motots are about the same price. Do you recommend something else?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGuHuSuHKc4 I found just the kit shipped to me for 300usd. So I am planning to add a motor at 1850kv to 2290kv running a 7x6 or 7x7 APC prop, probably 5s - 6s battery
at 65c and a 200amp ESC just to be sure not to burn anything (I had a setup like this in a plane and it was a rocket!). Is any of you familiar with this plane?
Is the set up I am planning to use too much for this?

Then a locan hobby shop proposed to me an other plane, that from the manufacrurers page I can make this run in 200mph.
Is a WestonUK Mini MagnumR electric. Will be used electric. Cost of this plane is 130 euro so about 170 usd.

If you want to go crazy fast you have to look at the German models. I'm guessing you have to spend some big bucks though.

Yes but these planes are extremely expensive. I was in the budget of 300 usd for the plane...for the kit I mean.

Both are great planes for Speed. You need to decide if you want to hand launch or ROG. The LR-1 has small tires paved runway prefered.
The Magnum does not have landing gear but hand launches easy with and .50 2 -stroke. Sometimes the carbonfibre graphics trim film comes off.
Also the size of you battery must fit into the fuse. Weight may be an issue.
Please Note I do not fly electric. So I cant compare the wieght of a JETT .50 16.4 oz incluse muffler and spinner nut to a 6S battery+motor+ESC.
Also both planes designed for glow fuel engine which means a lot of weight in the nose.

Thanks for your help! I will buy the lr-1. After arriving to me I will make sure to pay attention to the weight distribution. Although my motor and battery are about 7 50 grams I guess it will be OK. I hope to be lucky and figure the cg. Is this plane better flying nose heavy or in the middle of the cg?

Shoot for center of CG. Forward limit should be ok. Nose heavy it may land fast.
The clean airframe will bleed speed off slowly.
FAR Too nose heavy it may not flare to land.
That was a problem I had with a Richmodels Quickie ARF CG was wrong in manual by several inches!

DO NOT use the included gear if plan to fly off the grass. it will rip out and when it does they split right on the leading edge. You will need to keep it under 3.5 pounds in weight. hand launch with small prop and heavy weight will not end up to well in this plan. Dont expect a 200 mph plane.

Hello airraptor, thanks for replying. I have decided to get the LR-1. I will not takeoff from grass so there is no problem in that. After getting the plane I have to see the weight of the motor (a custom Mega)
and after that I have to decide for my battery's weight (5s - 6s maybe don't know). So I have some time before making the plane to fly. I will post my photos soon :)

(The prop is a 7x6 apc so I guess that I could make hand launch? If not, no problem :D )

You might be able too, but first flight should be on an 8x3 APC just so you have good thrust and can get it trimmed out. Then move on down to smaller props if you feel comfortable launching it.

Ohh ok I got it! I have to be careful with throttle and 8x3 prop ;)

yes this way you can launch it at 1/2-3/4 throttle.

If you can score that magnum for a little better price you won't regret it later.
Pretty sure nobody has ever seen 200 mph out of one. I've seen 175 with a Jett SJ.50 though.
