Rossi 21
Hi All
Just received a Rossi 21 which i bought off ebay and i am looking for a bit more info on it and recommendation. Is engine is in FIRE config The engine is only marked 6T on the side No specific instruction about this model on the instruction enclosed, rather on the 5T What is the recommended pipe lenght for this engine, instructions say 10cm on the car version, turning 28k, rpm range for the 5T is 26 - 28k, should i be working on the same length pipe. What prop should i use, what fuel? Any info would be greatly appreciated, i am thinking speedmodel.nl will be visited in the near future!!!! |

Dont know how to post an image directly Your Rossi 21 engine is the older 5-port version. I recommend the non-muffled MACS tuned pipe # 1120 for nice performance. Distance between glow plug and center of the widest part of the pipe is 8.5" for the first test runs - to be shortened down to 8" in 5 mm increments. Rossi R6 plugs. Start with 10 % nitro fuel. 6.5*6.5 APC pylon prop when using a slim fuse. Expect static rpms of 26K. Tip: Replace the R/C carb by a venturi carb. Good luck! |

When you say older, how old is it approx, additionally is there a problem with the r/c carb on these or they a limiting. Thanks for the rest of the info. Cheers |

the ROSSI R21 is an 80's design. Yes, a R/C carb does limit top end. So you need to make a venturi carb featuring an ID of 8.5 mm - preferably a ring venturi. |

The Rossi 65R21 version was equipped with a ring venturi intake. Check with Just Engines to see if parts can be had. You will need the venturi, needle, spray bar, nut, and seal.
I have the manual for mine in storage away from home. I will copy the parts list if you need it and e you with it. Just let me know. Is yours fitted with the "Turbo" plug head? RR |

Hi!
We used these engines in QM pylonracing here in Sweden in the beginning of the eighties. We used the long Rossi quiet pipe and ran 80/20 FAI fuel (no nitro) and used Rossi 3.-5 glowplugs. Props were 7x5 carbon or ...APC 7x5. You don't have to replace the R/C carburettor to have it perform..we used it on ours... as the rules did not permit a venturi. Expect around 25000rpm using a 7x5 APC and FAI fuel...no nitro is needed to have this engine perform. Regards! Jan K Sweden http://hem.passagen.se/airracing |

I am going to put this to one side at the moment due to having to many projects going on, in the near future i would like to get myself something from speedmodels to put this in, will still need to get a pipe for it however Morris H are doing 15/28 pipes for near enough nothing. Will see how it goes, thanks for the inputs from all!!!

The parts you will need to convert the R21 to venturi are 6542, 6565,6571, and 6572. I have retrieved the parts list to scan, and will e it to you soon. If you do not find the time to pursue your R21 project, I would be interested in buying it from you. BTW, I am pretty sure you have a 6 transfer version. RR |

The 6t(ransfer) has a greater gas passage area and better charge shaping, both to help increase power. If you look through the exhaust port, you can see the transfer ports. RR |

Hi RossiRay - yup understand that part, however what is the real differences in terms of RPM and power, what kind of numbers do you get with the 6T
