RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Nice looking plane![:-]! That .32 is sure a fantastic engine. Would like to hear how this combo works out.
|
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Very nice plane, been trying to trim down some of my fleet at the moment to make room for more, this is one which is pretty high on the light, i want to use a Picco 21 FISE with tuned pipe on, alternatively an MVVS, see what happens:eek:
|
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
To obtain good speed numbers with that combo here's a suggestion: MACS side exhaust header (small radius) # 2340 MACS non-muffled tuned pipe # 1130 APC prop 7.2X8.6 # LP07286 pipe length (from glow plug to middle of widest part of the pipe) = 10.6" The 32sx engine will swing that 7.2X8.6 prop with at least 20K :) |
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
20K? :D That's a pitch spped of, what, about 150 mph? I have a 32fx just looking for a home. I'll be watching this thread with much interest.
|
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Yes, with a pitch of 8.6" and 20K in flight that particular airframe will go at least 140 mph... But as mentioned above, you have to choose a very effective tuned pipe setup. P.S. Same applies to the Webra .32 engine (non-ringed version). |
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
der steuermann, thanks for the info.Do you have any numbers if i use a Mac quiet pipe?.Also looking for some prop combinations and pipe length(quiet pipe)for a Rossi 40 that is in my Doddger Quickie 500.Regards Chris.

Those Stingers sure do look nice...
I've got a Stinger 40 in the works. Powered by the engine pictured below... should be a real screamer! Timed for 23-24K rpm... What does that 32 turn on a 7x6W? Seems like an awfully small prop... we use that prop on a .21 Irvine... in Club 20 pylon racing... and it screams! |
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Also looking for some prop combinations and pipe length(quiet pipe)for a Rossi 40 that is in my Doddger Quickie 500.Regards Chris.
Try a APC Pylon Prop 8.75 - 8.0 or 8.75 x 8.25 on that Rossi, you should get some good RPM's out of that... |
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Those Jett engines are a work of art, very nice!.Looking forward to seeing some pics when you get started Rudeboy. That APC 7x6Wide is what Look of Speed Models used on his Stinger 21 with an OS 32.You can see it in action in a short video on his web site.I agree, it is a small prop.I hope my OS likes some revs.Chris.

This is a muffler adapter i made, so the muffler isnt hangin so far out into the wind, besides it looks ugly. This piece is made with a hack saw, file and a drill, so anyone can make one.The adapter is snug fitted over the exhaust on the engine and then it is drilled and pinned with a steel rod.

RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Looks good.
I would suggest picking up a 4 oz Tettra Bladder tank. Dave |

RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Oh man, my credit card is just vibrating in my pocket. I may have a YS 45 RE on it's way from a trade. And this sure looks tempting.
|
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
The Stinger .40 is much better suited for an YS 45 than the .21 version.
|
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Yes, for the YS I was thinking a stinger 40
|
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
I might get a Tettra tank as suggested by Daven. The problem is the opening on the wing saddle is an 1-1/2".Thats why i made my own tank.Darrel Caddys 4oz tank is a approx. 2'' wide.I might open up the saddle a bit.Is 4oz large enough for the 32 and how long of a run do you think i would get?Chris.

RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
ORIGINAL: Zeroman der steuermann, thanks for the info.Do you have any numbers if i use a Mac quiet pipe? As for your Stinger 21 plane you should switch to a tuned pipe setup ASAP - you won't regret it.:D |
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Life would be so much simpler if we did not have a noise restriction rule, all my engines would be piped.Unfortunately i have to meet these restrictions.I'm surprised that you have an area in Germany that you don't need to follow some kind of noise restriction, your lucky.Chris.P.S I cheat a little, i take out the baffle plate in the stock muffler, every bit helps.
|
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
Jett's slim type 6 oz tank is about 1-3/4" diameter.... and a bit over 6" long. It is also round. Would work in the application?
|
RE: Speed Models,Stinger 21 pic
You can get baffled tuned pipes which will be quiter than the stock muffler you are running, also i dont think there is anyway you will get within the limits using a 7x6w on that engine.
