Is Speed Models getting out of the business? The web page says "out of programme" when I clik on the links to any models

Try The Hobby Barn, they are the U.S distributers.I purchased mine there.I hope Speed Models site is down due to web site difficulties and not business problems.Chris.

No not yet, waiting for field conditions to improve. We have dumped 20 yards of top soil and seeded our runway last weekend.Im not in a hurry to fly that thing, makes me nervous every time i look at it.The plane in the photo is scratch built and is the fastest plane i have flown,100mph.I just have to sikh myself into flying the Stinger, i know that plane is going to groove.Chris.

I've thought about getting the 40 size.Do you think you got your monies worth????
Looks really nice.Is the fuse ready to use when you get it. Does it have formers inside the fuse or is it stiff enough to use as you receive it??
Thanx

RE: Stinger 21 Finished!

Q-ball, ask me that after i fly it.I feel i got my monies worth, considering the price includes obeechi covered wings. The fuse is plenty strong ,no formers other than the motor mount. The completed wing has some flex and could be stiffened up with glass, but at a weight penalty. My plane came in at 2lbs-13oz and thats with home made wheels and mounts.Get one you will be happy with the quality. If you have any questions about building it, i will be glad to help.Regards Chris.

RE: Stinger 21 Finished!

Chris,
Didn't it come with raw foam wings that YOU covered with the sheeting?? I'm not into sheeting foam mainly cuz I've never done it. Did you sheet the wings are did they come already sheeteed??

You said home made wheels....You mean just the wheels or the whole landing gear.I didn't think these things came with any landing gear at all.

Thanx
Walt

So far, no response to my email request. I wonder if they are out of business.

RE: Stinger 21 Finished!

I don't think it was a real business anyway... just a one man operation (or maybe two)... a guy making planes in his shed... and it got a little out of hand...

Last I heard was that the guy behind Speedmodels has severe problems with his back... I believe he sold the molds for his EDF jet to another company exactly for this reason.

If you are really interested in the Speedmodels designs you could try [link=http://www.modellmotorentechnik.de/]Modellmotorentechnik[/link] in Germany. They stocked the Speedmodels designs, and they may still have some. They are still on the site anyway...

Q-ball

Sheeting foam wings is real easy if you get the right spray adhesive (the kind that does not eat foam)
Just glue the sheets together with thin than sand clean apply spray adhesive and stick em couldn’t be easier

Great looking stinger!

Guys.. Speedmodels is not out of buissiness.. it just needed to continue in a diffferent way since the owner has neck problems and can't do any production stuff anymore.
I took over the production side and will continue the complete range of speedmodels .. I still work together on a daily bases with the former owner to desing new models and improve the older once.
I'm also going to add various other types of planes to the list..
I'm currently working away a backlog for dealers.. and will start taking order from januarie 1st 2005..

Cheers

Peter

Hi guys,
Thanks for the compliments.
Did you fly your Stinger 21 ?
First run in your engine and start with max rpm !!
Have a lot of fun with these models.
The Beretta 21 is the fastest in the range.
Regards,
Look.
