My New Flair Dara
 

Hi Guys,

I've just bouight a Flair Dara 20 second hand off ebay. It's got no landing gear, and comes with a SC 32 in the nose. It's a good looking plane if I say so myself :D

Has anyone seen this plane before, if so how does it go, will it take a 40? I'm hoping for about 120mph.

That's supposed to be a C20 racing plane... so it is designed around the use of a .20 engine.

A properly designed Club 20 plane with an Irvine .20 racing engine and angled "super silencer" (no longer made unfortunately) will probably do like 130 - 140 mph.

So that .32 will really make it move, if it has a good exhaust system on it (anything else than a stock baffled muffler).

You may be able to shoehorn a .40 in there, but it's really not necessary... and it will add a lot of weight you don't want.

It's got a stock muffler on at the moment and I'll do the first few flights on this before I go mad :-).

I'll let you know how it flys, westher is due to be quite windy here over the weekend, so it might be next week.

The dara has now been discontinued by flair so you can't get hold of them anymore which is a shame as I think they are great planes. I like the fact that I can keep it in one piece and can just nip down to the field with it under my arm in the summer evenings. My dara flies very smooth and very stable at low speed. I have an OS 25 FX with standard muffler on 9x6 apc and it rips! when I turn up the juice! Only thing to watch out for is the fact that its small and can get out of sight fast, so never take your eye off it.

Yep, and it is the case for the Meteor line as well.... There were three different versions (.25 , .40 and .60 sized), and all of them have been discontinued, although great aircraft...
I cannot understand this.
Lack of ads is probably a reason for this "no-success", when you look at their product line today, there are many aircraft that are not worth it compared to Dara 20s and Meteors....

They sure are nice looking planes, I'm glad that I bought mine when I did.

I've still not flown it yet because of the weather were, but I'm looking forward to fly her soon.

nice looking Dara.

just got my hands on an untouched kit and will be installing a new weston uk West 36 V1 into it would should spin an 8x6 at 21k!!
