Well I took the plunge and ordered two short kits. One for me and another for my son. I plan on putting an OS32SX in one and maybe a webra 32 in the other just to compare. Both with Mousse cans. Tell me what you think of these engines. Thanks, Pete

I can't tell you a thing about the Webra, but the Max 32SX, is one of my favorite engines. I have one on a Diamond Dust with a Mac's muffler and 9X7 Master Airscrew and it screams. I've also used it on a Quickie and it pulled almost as strong as the 46 I had been using. ( The weight helped here.)
It's a good choice for sport or speed. I do recommend the Mac's muffler...it's cheaper the stock muffler, and is good for several hundred more RPM. (It's lighter then the stock muffler also, so you may have to re-balance the plane.)
Have fun...I'd be interested in how the short kits for the outlaw turn out...be sure to update your post!

Thanks

Great feedback. Really appreciated. Will post updates and try to get some pics in along the way. Phillybaby nice work, like the hidden servos. Pete

you can go further with the hidden servos, cut the centre ribs out and put the servo body in the wing section. this leaves LOADS of room for the RX and batt to play with CofG.
i think there is a pic of that on another Outlaw post somewhere.

I finally got started on my short kit the other day. It is in a word, SHORT. You get ribs and firewall, and I think that's it. I bought enough wood to make two, and keep the kit for pattern. The ribs were cut and ready in an afternoon, the firewall probably 30 mins. It's an awesome plane, but you could get by with the plans, especially if you're like me and need a spare. :) Now off to find some motivation. WHERE did I put it?

so the $25 kit isnt worth it? if you have to cut the ribs and firewall... does that mean you just get a bit of wood with the shapes printed??
anyway, i built from plan and instructon book, took two days.

Short Kit

Phillybaby,
The short kit comes with laser cut ribs and the firewall for $17.50.
For $25.00 you get the laser cut parts with instructions and a set of plans. For me I think it's a deal all the "Meat parts" are cut.

engine mount

What are you using to mount?

Cactus. 08-17-2002 02:14 PM

Outlaw

i used a standard engine mount, turned the engine over to line up with the wing, had the remote needle option, turned the throttle arm over the top of the carb and bingo.
first off was an irvine 36, i just turned the whole carb around so it didnt land on the needle.

Done shopping

Well after getting a parts list together I have everything to get going. Will use Hitec servos HS81 for throttle,HS77BB for rudder and HS645MG for Elevons. Pete

Outlaw parts list

Hey guys,
After I had rolled out my plans for the Outlaw, and went through
the short kit, I forgot I had a tin of enamel paint on the shelf...
with a loose lid....black in color.....our cat, all 17 pounds of him,
lept onto the shelf. Needless to say, plans are not in good shape,
but might be able to use 1/2 of the shhet. Has anybody got a list of the wood needed to frame it up? If you do, I would appreciate
it, so I can order the wood, build the plane, go after the cat...

Thanks, Kerry

How'd ya' clean the cat ???

They hate kerosine.....

Rocketman612 08-20-2002 12:45 AM

Wood needed

Ply: 1/64,1/32,1/16,1/4
Spruce: Spars 1/8x1/4, 1/4 sq for servo mounts
Balsa: 3/32,3/16,1/16,1/4 and 1/4sq

I hope that helps. I had purchased enough to make two and extra wood for errors  Just measure it up from the good half. Pete
