DD plus OS 32sx

I am purchasing a Diamond Dust. I am thinking of going with an OS 32 sx for cost reasons. Its rpm range is 2000 - 22000 , 1.2 bhp. (info @ tower hobbies site) This engine should allow me to keep it light. What size prop should I use for this application? Are there any faster alternatives for this kind of money? Thanks, Hans

That's a good choice! I'm flying mine with the 32sx, a Mac's muffler, and a Master Airscrew 10x5. It seems to unload nicely in the air with this combo. Not as fast as one the monsters these guys have been loaded with Jett 50's, but bet it's faster than most anything at your field, and a hoot to fly!!
The Mac's muffler is the best speed sercet around! It's one piece, cheaper than a stock muffler, and good for several hundred more RPM....don't pass this one up!!
Have fun!!

DD plus OS 32sx

Mine has a Webra .35 Aero. Its very fast and responsive. I was originally running it with a stock muffler. Total weight was 2.25 lbs. The Webra turned a 9x6 APC at 14k using Morgans 10%. I've recently switched to a Macs pipe and an 8x7 APC but have yet to tach it.

Here's mine:

DD with OS 32 SX

I am using an OS 32 SX on my DD with a 8x8 prop and a Macs tuned pipe. I am not sure how fast it is but the only plane that is faster at our field is a DD with a JettFire 50. The OS setup is terrific I used lite weight NIMH batteries from Radical RC

Check out my Diamond Dust and several planes built by my friend
Dave McQuinn.

32SX One Sweet Little Motor

Flybike,
The 32sx is one sweet little screamer. I prefer the Jett muffler on this motor. I am currently getting over 18,500 with a APC 9.5X4.5, and it will really unload well in the air. I got a 2000 RPM inprovement with the JETT Stream muffler.

I am new to the speed planes I mainly fly combat, but I am hankering for a DD or a whiplash. :D

you should be happy with it i've had one now about 7 yrs 1000
flights later mine has a performace speclities piston / sleeve combo in it and i have a a mac tuned pipe best prop (and i got about a dozen differnt ones about a yr ago to see what works best) a 8x8 apc it turns between 18 - 19 k .the beauty of this
setup is where it might lack some power compared to a large motor it makes up in weight mine is under2 1/2 pounds had another they were both built at the same time but untill labor day week end it had not been flown that had a mvvs q-500 motor
on it but it was heavier and i had to stick a chunck of lead on the tail it was some what faster then the other one but i would guess
no more than 15-20 mph and it was proberly a pound heavier.
i was going to make some more comparisions but it had a battery
pack strap come off on the 5 or 6 flight on labor day it was a labor to get it out of the ground ha ha ha.
