WWI Warbird Racer

1 Attachment(s)
I've been looking for something a bit different to race in next years warbird race, and think I have settled on the Fokker V.23

I won't be using the scale airfoil, but one of my favorites :)

I think I can kit bash one of my Seeker Q500 fuzes and build my own tail group. Should skoot with a Cowled Jett .50 on the nose.

Here are some 3 views.

I picked up some plans from a recent RCM article for about $8.00 to help with the basic shape. It will be streamlined a bit :) , the trick will be to get it to balance.

With a 45-48" wingspan and a weight around 4 lbs, I think this thing will haul.

I might even put in a pilot with a silk scarf :)

Looks cool. It's been years ago but Jim Katz used to race a low wing DeHavilland
model based on a full scale racer from the 1920's. Similar concept- I think he had them in QM and FAI sizes, complete with tiger stripe paint schemes.

No fancy paint schemes here, it will look German, but probably not scale. I don't go overboard with racing planes, their lifespans can be short...

Hoping for 130+ MPH, I think I should be able to get there pretty easy.
