2 NEW SHRIKES

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all
I thought to share with you my fairly 2 new shrikes :

The black shrike uses an O.S. 61RE with a Mac-pipe, with 10% fuel it turns a 10x9 APC prop 16800RPM ( on the ground)
and weight 4lb 10oz
The white Shrike uses a towerhobbies 75 with stock pipe, with 10% fuel it turns a 10x10 APC at 14700
and it weight 5lb 8oz including a full 8oz smoke tank ( Yes it has a very simple but effective MAC's smoke system

What I love about these planes is how smooth and super stable they fly, take-off is super easy ( just open your hand and it will fly
level and straight-up with authority. Their speed is about 20/30 mph less than my Weston-Magnum or DDust but definatetly
fester than my Outlaw

those look good, I like the black one, that would be a good plane to put smoke on come to think of it.

They are the .40 size and he did have smoke on one, but I haven't seen him use the smoke for a while, they are fantastic flyers!! Guido is one of the fastest people I know!

RE: 2 NEW SHRIKES

I used to believe a Jett .50 was the maximum powerhouse a Shrike could handle... How heavy is your OS Guido ?
What about the gliding performance with the heavy one ?

RE: 2 NEW SHRIKES

I'm reading from the O.S. specifications: 19.0 oz (540 gr)
I just love this engine , too bad OS stop production of it.
As far as the gliding characteristic truly I don't see any difference. Yes it's almost 2 pounds heavier but it lands just
like the others. They are so easy to fly.

Thanks Guido ;).

Hey, that's what I was thinking, it's roughly the same weight as a .91 ! Do you think installing a lightweight .91 (Webra for example) on this poor little shrike would be reasonnable ?

Yeah, OS jumped onto the "disposable engine" concept, and unfortunately forgot these good engines... and trashed the FIRE setups too !!

By any chance, do you have any video or pictures of the smoke effect ? That gives me some ideas...

YEP, you can definitely install a 91.
Just move the 2 fuselage sides and install a bigger firewall.
Also make sure you install the battery all the way to the back , right before the elevator, and I do recommend
one servo per aileron

Has anyone ever seen a 40 size Shrike with landing gear? I would like to put one together, but I fly from a paved runway surrounded by rocks/desert which are pretty rough on a belly landed plane.
