Whiplash Ready For Launch

Syd,
Hope you don't mind a few more questions as I'm working on my Whiplash.

1) Are you happy with the control throws/deflections and the expo that you previously posted?

2) How far from the inboard edge of the elevon are your horns mounted?

3) What was your method of measuring/setting the engine thrust, (2 degrees right)? In other words, how did you come up with a reference line or point?

4) Have you tried another prop? Perhaps the 8.8 x 9.75?

Thanks again for all your help. I've sanded and spot filled and really worked a long time today getting ready for primer.

Whiplash Specs

S3HD:
The control throws I listed are working great. You need at least
30 degrees up elevator for good landings.

Ric mounted my small Robart horns 3/4 inches from the edge
with a slight angle towards the servos.

To set the engine thrust, stand the Whiplash on its trailing edge
and mount a disk on the front of the engine where the prop
should be. I use a Sears angle finder to get my 2 or 3 degrees
right thrust then I drill the engine mounting holes. Don't
carve any more from the engine mount than you need and
make a nice snug fit. With a Jett 50 you will have to carve out
some of the mount just to get it in there.

Just got my APC 8.8-9.75 props today and will be doing radar
runs this week.

Don't forget to use a sand paper washer on the prop driver
of the Jett 50. Syd
