New Megatech Mach Racer delta wing

Any good?? I bought one, figured for 89 buks it was worth it.
Planning on running a OS 46AX with a tuned Pipe, what prop should I run?? LHS told a 9x6 APC. would a 9x8 be better ??
and what kind of speeds should I be looking at with this setup ??
Thanks for all your input [8D]

I just got mine yesterday....It looks fast. I have a OS .45 FSR in mine, it's the
only engine I had that would fit. ;)

Man, you sure are Crazy for Flight!!! ;) I'd sure wouldn't mind having that collection of jets and delta-wings.

C4F: Nice collection!

FBD: how typical! The trash can is empty, but the rest of the place is trashed! :D

Hey Flyboy, what is this strange "hollow" muffler ? Never seen that kind before [sm=confused.gif]

RE: New Megatech Mach Racer delta wing

That's a vintage Semco venturi muffler, I beleive.

RE: New Megatech Mach Racer delta wing

I noticed that the flying weight of the Mach Racer is 3.56 lbs. Take the gear off and you would lose a bit of that. At that point, it's weight should compare favorably to the Diamond Dust. (My clipped wing Dust weighs 3.68 lbs). Plus it appears to be as sleek as the DD.

With the landing gear removed, what will the speed of the Mach Racer be versus the Diamond Dust (given the same engine in each, for instance the OS .46 AX mentioned earlier)....

In other words, what would you guess would be the MPH of each plane with the OS .46 AX?

At least, it seems to reduce muffler overall drag. How does it work btw ?

Well, for 'muffling sound', not very well. :D

It has a dual lining. The inner shape is a venturi, which when the aircraft is moving creates a low pressure, The outer lining, or body, is where the exhaust gases go. In theory anyway, the low pressure of the inner venturi would create a scavenging effect on the exaust gases, giving a boost in flow.

Kmot has the right idea....the inner tube runs straight through, the exhaust
goes into the outer portion and out the back. They are louder than a stock
muffler, and do give better power, no doubt about that. The are cool looking.

I have about 5 of them, The one on this 45 FSR is cast. The others seem to
be spun and welded, the massaged and polished. I've heard then called Demco.
Tatone. and Macs....I got them all second hand....I don't really know where
they come from. This one is on a 60 Rossi, and a couple on OS 60 FSR's. ;)

What about the speeds of both with the Jett .50?

Your clipped wing Dust weighed over 3.5 lbs? My regular Dust with a Jett 50 only weighed 2 lbs 12 ozs. (no fuel). I am wondering the thickness of the Mach Racer wing. The Dust is about 5%. It also appears the mach Racer has more frontal area behind the engine. My guess is that the Dust will be faster. My first Dust started with a 46 FX and UT muffler. Speeds probably in the 125/130 range turning a 9x7 at 16,500 rpm. 150+ speeds with the Jett 50.

I eyeballed the Mach racer at 1" thick....not bad, I think it will scoot.
I ran up the OS 45 for the first time, and it's a good one. ;)

Whoa- Cool looking bird--- I been gone too long! $89 bucks?

Dave with the FSR, imagine with an APC! ;)

RE: New Megatech Mach Racer delta wing

Strykaas....it's a ringed engine, so it's not tight. However, it is crisp
and has excellant compression....no bearing noise. I put a new plug
in it, and primed the carb....it fired right up. ;)

Razor....where ya' been ? I still have the bag of APC's for you. :)

FBD. :D
