RE: Vmar F18 ???

the first run of vmar f18s have not been delivered to the distributers yet,,,,,richmond rc told me they should have them ready for delivery to their customers by june,,,,they said they have heavy bookings for this plane......
If it flys anything like the vmar f4 and f5 and the mig 21 it should be a good sport prop jet...

RE: Vmar F18 ???

I go by looks. I do not like the front ends on any of the Vmar prop jets except that F-18 looks pretty good. if I had my pick out of the bunch, thats the one I'd go with.

the f5 looks real good in the air...and flys great,,,just avoid dead sticking way out from the runway!!!!!!!

I like the looks , but I was wondering about quality issues and the urban lengend that surrounds this brand . With shipping its tops off about $369 so even when the looks in my opinion are great , I want a first hand review from an RCU member .

RE: Vmar F18 ???

we should be hearing something soon as this plane makes its way to the consumers,,,
I have bought several vmar planes lately and they all are good quality,,,,i dont know about their past, because i was out of this hobby for about 16 years,,i just got their pilitus pc 9 and it is one of the best built arfs i have seen yet,,,im up to around 20 arfs now that i have purchased in the last 6 months,,h9 gp vmar seagull just to name a few, and from what i have seen they are just as good as any of the other brands i have bought.
Im right in the middle of assemblying the H9 P 47 150 size and i have had more trouble with it then any other arf yet,but i still like H9..
Every arf company can put out a bad one from time to time!!!!!

RE: Vmar F18 ???

agree , the plane looks fantastic , I hope its retract ready but I really cant tell from the pics .
Does anyone sell these at a discount ?

RE: Vmar F18 ???

the f18 will not accept retracts, fixed gear only!!
I dont think you will be able to get the plane new in the box at a discount,,, richmond rc is the only north american distributer, and i dont think they will be selling a new type plane that just came out at a discount!!! BUT IT DOESNT HURT TO ASK!!!

I have one on order. Will be using a new 91FX with Ultra Thrust muffler, Robart spring air retracts, and smoke system.

RE: Vmar F18 ???

Matt can it take retracts ?

JS615 05-19-2006 10:35 PM

RE: Vmar F18 ???

they did not build this plane to accept retracts like they did their other propjets,,,,,but i guess you could modify the plane yourself to take them!!

RE: Vmar F18 ???

sometimes that is easy and sometimes its a pain in the a.....[&o]I am bashing a E-bay purchased "willshobbies "seafury to take retracts , wow what a job . [:@]

RE: Vmar F18 ???

I know they say fixed gear but I plan on modifying it to take the Robart spring airs. I have modified many arf and kit airplanes that are designed for fixed gear to include. F-4, GP F-15, Long EZ nose gear. Yes the arfs can be a pain but should doable. I will keep this thread posted along with pictures when I get the Bule Angles F-18.
