CERMARK F-16

I recently aquired a Ready to Fly Cermark F-16 built as a kit - Arf not sure
I believe it was an arf its a couple years old
one of our Club Members had been building it for about 2 years when he passed away.

it has a Brand new never started Thunder Tiger 61 on it
Will this be enough power?
anyone that has this plane What is your CG set at?
I have it set at 6" back from the Flat spot on the wing where the dowels are
it still seems a little nose heavy to me but i could and am probably wrong <Smile>

I have went over this plane with a fine tooth comb
hope to Maiden it this weekend

anything i should watch out for Good / Bad

Thanks

Simple question first, since you noted it was a couple of years old or so....

Does it look like this ?

or does it look more like this one ?

If it is the second one, (the older semi-scale Cermark F-16) yes the TT .61 will be fine for power. It will fly ok, will not be steallar, but you should get some decent performance.

The first one shown is a current version, more scale, and bigger and heavier. It really demands .91 power for good performance.

I hope this helps

RE: CERMARK F-16

First Flight Last Friday
Had 800 feet of Runway used about half it lifted off
twisted to the left and slammed into runway upside down

I thought ok Not enough speed or my dumb thumb

only thing broke was vertical fin fixed it saturday
sunday morning Taxied out to end of runway
used almost all of 800 feet it was probably doing 60-80 mph before lift off
it lifted off this time i was ready for it, as it lifted off it rolled left i put full right rudder and ailiron
and all that did was slowed the roll it landed upside down and skid about 50 feet
broke vertical fin off again and scrathed up windshield

anyone have any ideas? everything looks perfectly straight.
Lateral balance was just a tad heavy on right side so it should have rolled left if anything.

I have pulled all servos and motor giving up on this one
i will spend an hour or so fixing it back again and do something with it.

how much elevator did you give it. I know on my first take off i let it go pretty far down the runway before pulling up. I pulled up pretty hard and it went hard to the left and started to roll. the next take off i used a lot less elevator and didnt have that problem anymore.

Does this plane have dual elevator controls? You might not have them both deflecting at the same rate. Also since it was an old plane that was sitting for awhile, i would suspect that the wings could have been warped slightly

Very Little Elevator was used ,

also wings and everything was straight, no slop in elevator

RE: CERMARK F-16

almost sounds like it may have been tail heavy.... ?

RE: CERMARK F-16

Balance is / was 6 inchs back from flat spot on front of wing
per the manual if anything it may have needed an ounce on tail
it was just barely nose heavy
