Radar Gun ??
 

I am thinking about buying a radar gun to measure the speed of some of my planes in the air.
Does anyone have one that they would recommend?
I have seen some on ebay. Bushnell velocity or simular for less than a $100.
I really do not want to spend $300 for one.

I NEVER used it... Therefore I cannot comment on how well it works....

Around here, you can get one of those Bushnell's at Radio Shack...last X-mas they were selling for 74.99

I have the gun that Crazy4Flight posted a link for. I like mine so far it works well for the price. I have clocked a 20 size sig wonder at 117mph with it. I got mine from optics planet and have nothing but good things to say about there service.

Julian, don't waste your money on the bushnel. I have one. We can get a reading on an 80" wing span plane. A 40 size is intermittent unless a person stands in the middle of the runway and you fly right at them ( not a good idea).

Also I never could get one of those planes from nitroplanes, I ordered a LR-1 from Wildhare. I'am putting a Dub Jett BSE 35 on it,
sure hope its fast. We plan to clock it the old fashion way. Two guys 300' apart a flash light and a stop watch.

Yeah we've been using it at our field, great fun. It picks up the plane abouot 50% of the time on the fast planes and you have to fly right at you and close to get it to read. 161 on a Magnum is our best yet... neat for slow planes too... I have a $12 Walmart mustang... 50mph!!!

What is the flash light for ?

When the plane comes across the runway and past the first person he flashes the light so the other person 300ft away starts the stop watch. When the plane gets to second person he stops watch. We now have the time between the two points and we know the distance, we now can calculate the speed.
