I designed and built this plane about a year ago. I have about 70 flights on it. I've had it clocked at 120 mph on radar straight and level. Powerplant: YS 120fz, Weight: 15.1 lbs dry (it came out too heavy), Wing Span: 78 inches, Length: 72 inches. I'm currently working on a gas powered version which should scream. Pics are on the way.

The guy who clocked my plane wanted me to fly it five feet over the runway and straight at him.....15lbs between 115-120mph. This was the first day that I met him, pretty trusting on his part. I ended up flying it just off to the side of the runway.

15 lbs... that is heavy indeed.
It looks a bit like those older f3a type planes (curare and family...).

Usually a trained eye can separate the beginners from the winners pretty fast... If he saw you fly that plane in a decent, confident way there would be no reason for him to not trust you.

Is it all fiberglassed ? It looks like a 10 pounder. Very
nice design. ;)

It is a heavy airplane. Foam core fuse/wing/stabs then balsa sheeted, then glassed. So in other words, it's a tank. But it's fast and it fly's like it's on rails.

sweet looking plane!

ever think about trying it with s 2 stroke on pipe?

Well, I've thought of puting a 2 stroke/pipe set up. But I like the high torque 4 stroke. It seems that I can spin a higher pitch prop with the 4 stroke. If I can get a 2 stroke set up (swinging a 13X8 prop at 14,000 rpm). That might get me going. But right now I'm swinging a 14X12 at 9600 rpm.

14X12 at 9600 rpm.

now thats 4 stroking power!

you have a point there about torque
