What is the best prop for a Sport Jett .50 mounted on a DD ?

After trying from a 10 x 6 to a 8.75 x 8.5 my favorite was a APC sport 9 x 8.

Mike, do you think that would be a good prop for the heavier Whiplash, also?

I have the same engine going on the Whip.

Whiplash Prop

daven,

I do not have any experience with a Whip but I suspect a 9 x 8 would work well. Good speed plus more thrust then weight.

Well, I have a whole drawer of pylon props, so I'll have plenty to play with. I assume the 9x8 is a sport prop. It seems odd that a sport prop on this engine would out perform the pylon props that are so close to that size, but it wouldn't completely suprise me.

The pylon prop may of had the edge on speed but it was too close for me to tell. The 9x8 Sport prop obviously had more thrust with faster acceleration on my 2 lb. 12 oz. Dust. I usually ran the Super Sport muffler so the pylon prop may work better with the quickie muffler.

Thanks to all for the help.
Will try this weekend.

Mike,
I tried the APC 9x8 and it made a big difference.
I was using an APC 10x5. The engine now turns near
17200. This is about 700 more than with the 10x5.
Thanks,
Dee
