MVVS .49
Hey all,
As I posted in a different thread for a different reason I am putting together a scratch built speed plane. The plane was rtf with a sport jett .50 and had a rtf weight of 2.9 pounds. It had promise until second lap, the connecting rod of motor snapped:(. This engine was at least 2 years old and I got it second hand so no telling how it was treated. Dub makes great engines so I am sure it was previous owner user induced. ANyway :).........this plane is untested really as far as if it will be a screamer and not sure if I want to rebuild or buy new racing motor until I know.. I have a mvvs .49 with pipe laying around but always used it for profile 3d flying and never tried to prop it for speed. Anyone know if this engine like high rpms? I know it isnt a jett but was hoping I could use as a test bed to see what plane may be capable of before dumping racing motor money in it. Any ideas? Thanks Mike |
RE: MVVS .49
With the tuned mini pipe, the MVVS .49 is a very high rpm, high output engine. Mine would turn a 10 X 6 in the mid 17's on 10% nitro fuel. It was in a Sig Kougar, and it was very fast, with most who saw it fly estimate it was flying around 100 mph in straight and leve flight. The .49 would be a excellent choice for a speed model. Don't go above 15% on the nitro, it doesn't need anymore than that.
