Duct fan motor

Has any one tried using a duct fan motor on a Q 500 plane ?

good question. could you put a os .46 vr or an older k&b .40 - .46 rear rotor or df engine on a scat cat? probably have to cut the nose back a bit though.

It's been done. Viper + OS 46 VX DF. There was a video, It was fast, but not the fastest Iv'e seen. His prop diameter was too small. It sure sounded cool.

You would need to clip the wings a few inches on each side also. A viper or q500 plane needs atleast an 8" prop to go anywhere. anything less in diameter and you are just spinning your wheels. you need some thrust for that airframe!
