I don't know if you can but I could.... that would be a nice combo since the motor's close to the CG...

James

You are kidding right?

WIth the engine where it is and that long nose moment balancing would be easy enough without adding weigt so it jst comes down to the actual mount and making the engine fit.

If you really want to play with something I am planning on cutting some faom and composite deltas over the summer.

Pete

Pete- I am definitely interested.... :D

consider yourself a tester when I get around to making them.

BTW - Just buy the plane and put the engine in it...should be pretty straight forward.

your flying skills have been well noted here, so just get that engine in there and lets us know what the cool looking sucker is like with some "POWER

"...should be a goer with OS32SX, TT36 PRO or the Jett35 BSE

That's good since any real flight time I get this year will be mostly devoted to practice for pattern and you won't have to do any building on this if I can pull it off the way I want.

We'll talk about it later offline.

Razor:

What ya doing with a Webra 50 in that thing, I have two of the things by circumstance, never have been impressed with the 50. Now, the 55, thats a whole different world. Well broken in it will pull a 10 X 10 way up there in the 18-19 and unload a bunch. Takes a Nellson or Jett 60LX to beat it in the same airframe. Spend some of that money you saved on the airframe on a real engine, or are ya going into pattern? ENJOY

RE: Can I shoe-horn a Webra-50 in one of these?

rmenke- I got this engine FREE, and I must admit you are the only person I have ever heard talk crap about the Webra-50. [:@] Yeah, yeah...You get 19K with a 10x9/ 10x10 on your Webra-55. Whatever you say....;)

I run what I got....and there is nothing wrong with a Webra-50GT.

For half the price of a Jett or Nelson you get better than 90% of the power. Mine is 20 years old and just had 1 overhaul. The parts from Austria were expensive but the engine is my baby.

RE: Can I shoe-horn a Webra-50 in one of these?

The Webra-50 is one of the finest sport engines ever made. In my personal tests and experience it out-turned a Rossi-45, Rossi-53, OS-50SX and K&B-48...All of which are darn fine engines also. It is also lighter than about everything except a Fox-50.

I did buy a UT Race Muffler for it though to- [X(] Free engine and a $65 muffler...LOL

If it'll turn an APC 9x8 16.4+ like my old one did (stock muffler) then I will be stoked.

YOU MEAN THE $80.00 nitro planes bobcat 25?
Wing Span: 39.4 in / 1000mm
Wing Area: 391sq in / 25.2 sq dm
Flying Weight: 3.9lb / 1800g
Fuselage Length: 46.2 in / 1175 mm
Radio Required: 4channels ; 8 servos
For Gas, Engine Required: 2c 0.25 - 0.32 cu in

take bob's flying formula...

recomended displacement x1 = trainer [sm=47_47.gif]
recomended displacement x1.25 = fun times :)
recomended displacement x1.5 = exciting [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
recomended displacement x1.75 or more = freaking ballistic :D

webra are very good engines but they do have less quality assurance the then jap engines. you dont need a webra 50. when a webra .32 with a little work will turn 8x7 apc at 20,000-20,500 with jett muffler. plenty of power for that plane to go over 130.

i am on a hunt for every webra i can find lol they are very strong and light engines!

Okay I will say this again:

I got the Webra-50 for free

QUality assurance? Dig around and try to find a post where someone is *****ing about the Webra-50GT, go ahead and I will wait here...

RE: Can I shoe-horn a Webra-50 in one of these?

So the Brown truck arrived with my little Bobcat today...Very impressed with the quality of the arf, the fit of the parts and the hardware included. (Some of it will need to be replaced though...just my prefernce) pre-hinged, beautiful FG fuse and vert stabs- for $79 bucks I was severely impressed.

I am NOT doing the rudders and I am using standard sized servos for everything else. My goal is to keep this as cost-effective as possible based on stuff I already have and just make it a fun project for the upcoming Revvers thing. So far it IS fun...:D

I should have it up and ready in a reasonable amount of time- Just need a few odds and ends and waiting on my UT muffler.

Cheers!

Razor, thanks for filling me in about the Rossi.
Your Bobcat would be a good example for all those guys who come here for the first time looking for something different and fast. Amazing price, amazing that all the guys who lay hands on it before it gets to you make any money.

RE: Can I shoe-horn a Webra-50 in one of these?

Combatpigg- You know more about speed than me. I am always in the sport-ghetto-speed category! [X(]:D

I really want to get another Patriot and do it up first class but I need to save a little cash first. I manage to have fun no matter what stuff I have- EVen the 2 Jett-50's I have owned were used...Some day I will get a shiny new Jett-60LX with the Dubb Jett towel and everything.

I really like the idea of a Patriot with an OPS engine in it after reading about Mark5's results with a YS-60. And I still plan on getting ahold of a Tiporare or Aurora or similar for Ballistic pattern.

What projects do you have going on?

I just got done reapairing my house after sending a 100 foot douglas fir through the roof.
Almost done with a twin engine plane in the 1/2A forum.
90% done with a .25 sized Mustang with OS .32
Started making a mold for Cyclon .061 powered P-51.
Thinking about plane for Nelson .40
Wishing I was already retired!!

Cool :D
Hope that Webra runs well for ya...like I said, I didn't get a chance to test it...

The plane is a little bit bigger than I thought...and that engine doesn't look overly large on it after all. (just right, right?[)])
