You guys are going to love this plane. Makes a whistle sound as it zings by. Glides forever.
I opted to put a Jett sj60lx on it, swinging a 9x6 @18,000 ground.
Hand launches, it is pulled from your hand at 45 degrees and just keeps pulling hard.
My first flight my eyes were as big as hubcaps and i was talking as if I had just drank two pots of coffee.:D

A Magnum R though, not a Magnum? Just to be sure I understand.

Yes, it's the R model.
With West V1 engine and Genesis full pipe it was just under $400.

That sounds kind of slow for a 9-6 on that engine, doesn't it? Seems closer to 10-6 rpm. The West .50 turns an APC 9-6 at around 20k static, or even more.

Jett list the minimum rpm static with a 10x6 to be at 18k on the 60lx.

I think mine was around 18,800 ground with a 9x6 APC a little on the fat side.

As the engine unloads and rpms increase that extra fuel is needed so that it does not go lean.

When the engine is turning at 300 revolutions per second, glow plugs pop real easy.

With a 9x6 it pulls real strong from your hand and there is very little correction needed at take of, speed comes up quick.

I tried a 8.8 x 8.75 and take off is a little squirrelly. I had to correct quickly because the low speed pull was not there. When it gets moving, hold on.

So the 9x6 is more on the lower speed torque end (2nd gear) and the 8.8 x 8.75 is like (3rd gear).

I have not see any weston 50 run yet so I do not know about them.

Yeah, I know you gotta set them fat on the ground, I just thought that 18k sounded a little low even for ground rpm at flight setting. You mentioned here though it was 18,800, that's getting higher. I figure the 60LX has gotta be an equal to the West .50, so was thinking ground (rich) rpm on a 9-6 ought to be in the mid 19's or so. Whatever, mileage, tachs and my memory may vary.
