Outlaw Speed Run

Mark,
You still out there? Sure hope so, because I've made a few changes to my Outlaw since we last talked. Sound recordings of several flights were made and I want you to turn them into speed readings for me. You mentioned something about having a computer program, Wave-a-Scope or something like that. Can I send you the file and have you run it though your computer?

Arthur,
Send it to me!!!!!!!! So you think your going to De-throne me and my Diamond Dust.......Ha! Bring it on Baby!!!!!

ArthurD 05-02-2009 05:59 PM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

Okay, I've PM'ed it to you. You'll be sorry you spoke so harshly!

You guy's are funny....

ArthurD 05-03-2009 01:15 PM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

Actually it isn't THAT funny. He'd like nothing better than to blow me away like he's been doing for the last few months and I'm getting a little tired of it. Now, after a lot of work, there's the chance of 'cleaning his clock' using his own speed-from-sound program as the scrub brush. HA! Can't wait to see if he has the guts to answer publicly.

The slower one of you two guys should have to perform a duty for the other guy until the tables get turned....like a weekly car wash or lawn mowing. Imagine how fast your planes would be flying after a couple of year's worth of this kind of rivalry?

I was not expecting that while I was reading the beginning of the sentence... [X(]

Arthur,
Ok, ah this recording you sent.......Let me see if I understand.... Cause I can't believe it....This is the outlaw I watched you fly a couple days ago...You and Joe were recording passes? The Outlaw with a 36 webra , Header and pipe , ceramic bearings , new crank shaft? Is this pass that plane and motor? I just can't believe it's so...... Is it!!!!! Gofastz (Mark)

PS Those air flow changes to the rear rudder and nose can't be making this much impact on you speed......NO WAY!!!!!!

ArthurD 05-03-2009 03:29 PM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

I knew you couldn't admit it. Go ahead, get humble, delcare me the fastest. It's your program, your computer, your recording! HA and HA HA!!

We want pictures of these modifications. This is a must !

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

well ? you gonna share vid and numbers?

evan-RCU 05-03-2009 04:17 PM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

No way a Outlaw is faster than a DD since a Outlaw can fly with a .36 tops and a DD a .50.....

So whos going to spill the beans and what's the speed?

ArthurD 05-04-2009 07:33 AM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

What's the number, Mark? It isn't that hard; the computer does the work.

Give it to us in MPH; knots looks slower.

Something is not right here. Could you post the video for others to see and examine?

combatpigg 05-04-2009 09:52 AM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

170 mph is remarkable! I wouldn't have believed it without proof.
This is about 40 mph faster than what I would think is possible.

evan-RCU 05-04-2009 10:23 AM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

No way... it would take a JETT .50 or nelson .40 on an Outlaw to do this.

ArthurD 05-04-2009 11:44 AM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

For all of you who doubt the results of the computer program and want furthur proof..................
Send me your video camera. I'll shoot a flight and return it to you. I don't have a video camera.
Or, examine the audio recording for yourself and see if you can discredit it. I'm happy to admit it if I'm wrong.
Better yet, come on down to Florida and I'll show you first-hand.

It's little wonder that you think it's speed is impossible to be correct. I wouldn't either except it's obvious to me and many observers that it's the fastest thing they've seen. We have several other models tested using the same technique of measuring speed and they are obviously slower, mostly in the range of 120 to 150 MPH. So, either all the models are testing wrong or none are.

Come on down!

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

What size prop did you do it with? I've been talking with another guy in the tachometer forum about this engine and were speculating which prop to use.
Your Outlaw is 10 mph faster than my Webra .50 powered Diamond Dust running a 9x8.

ArthurD 05-04-2009 12:07 PM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

The prop is a APC 9X7, fuel is PowerMaster 10%, header is a Mac's cut to about 60MM from the weld, glow plug is an OS R5, bearings are Boca Bearings ceramics, all trailing edges are trimed sharp, rudder servo is internal with the push rod very close to the fuse and a small solid aluminum spinner.

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

Thanks for the info Arthur. I've been meaning to get an Outlaw.....it's been awhile since I've done any flat spins with a delta.

Where is it? Audio without video however is not proof of wind conditions or aircraft attitude. Actually I am waiting for someone to say it is a joke.

Edit to change "level flight" to "wind conditions".

ArthurD 05-04-2009 12:30 PM

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

You're welcome. I'v been so busy enjoying the speed I've never tried to do spins. Thought about it, but not done it. Come to think of it, there's really not much reason to have a rudder and it's hardware unless you like spins. Maybe save weight and leave all that stuff off?

Proof?? You are kidding, right?

RE: Outlaw Speed Run

No joke, Mike.

Do you think the audio can be faked or is not accurate? Take a look at the program results and see if you can make them say anything other than what was reported.

Come on down. Tulsa's way to hot in the summer anyway.
