Wild Wiz 60

Wild Wiz 60. Anyone have one flying yet? I just received my kit. I have the Wild Wiz 40 and powered it with a 25 and love it. This Wild Wiz 60 is getting a 46. Rick Haslam says they think the Hitec HS-422 on 6v is enough servo. That'd be 57 in/oz. I'm going to use the HS-485 at 66 in/oz on 4.8v. It's more torque and will allow a lighter battery.

RE: Wild Wiz 60

I started building the Wild Wiz 60. The new Wiz uses wooden dowel in the leading edge and for the rib profiles. Interesting construction. The manual stinks (or at least it confuses the heck out of me) and the kit was missing a bunch of wood but Wild Wiz's fly so good, it's worth the aggrevation. Thank goodness I have a Wild Wiz 40 in translucent covering to refer to. It's a little different cosntruction but it cleared up a couple questions I had early on. Power will be a used Megatech 46 (cheap eBay purchase) I have already fit to the motor mount ply.

RE: Wild Wiz 60

I am finishing up the first side of frame up. I finally figured out what I'm doing. There are some discrepancies between the pictures, the drawings and the text in the manual but if you stare at the pictures long enough, the detail comes out. I have come to accept and really like the 1/8" dowels used for the wing rib profiles. It's quick building that way and should be pretty durable. The build should go much more quickly from here. After the first one it would be possible to frame up the entire plane in an evening if you wanted to hustle. I'm just picking away on it a few minutes here and there.
