The topic changes all the time on this site between landspeed record attemps to drag racing to parking lot bashing.

151 mph at the speed event today with the rocket car. No more runs due to a slight technical glitch

Its far too much fun to give up! I built an open IC car with a 7.5cc or .45 engine and it went really well but I had problems with the drive train. After they were fixed the water pump broke so couldnt run it. I have plans for more IC cars for the next event and another rocket car as the technical hitch I talked about totally destroyed this one.

Like I said, a small technical hitch. The igniter didnt have a groove in it so when packed into the end of the rocket and ignited the gasses produced didnt have anywhere to go. The motor exploded and totally destroyed the car.
The total damage was not much. A few inches of stainless steel pipe, A valve I never found, A receiver, and a couple of lengths of aluminium angle for the chassis plus the body. I plan to rebuild the car with the planned upgrade of new wheels and additional external N2 tanks. It will all be ready by the 1st practice event next year
Cheers

Did you custom make the chassis and wheels??[X(]

however i didn't make the wheels, thay are 36mm hot-racing show wheels.
i tried to get my buddy to do a 2 speed but he said his experience with faster things would have to wait as he didn't want to wreck it

Wow, now that is what I'm talking about. Great build man but how does it run? I've got a whole new chassis that I am building for my CD3 that will be a single speed car that will run VERY hard. Stay tuned to see it.

this is the first on road of this calibre that he has ever had, so it'll be interesting to see the vids he posts.
i live in fresno, ca and he lives in mcfarland, ca 100 miles away so when he posts vids i'l post up here.
wait i have a vid on photobucket that i made during testing.

RE: Nasty 1/10 scale on-road cars using .21 or larger engines....come inside
thanks man
i did it that way for a few of reasons
1 to keep the extra weight more towards the center of the car
2 it is loud as ****.
3 keeps the exhaust fumes of the tires and the rest of the car, except what curls around and sticks to the rear.
really keeps cleaning to a minimum
4 it just looks a lot cleaner and that MACS pipe gives great top end

Upgrades.....
2 external N2 bottles feed the accumulator via a regulator so I can fill the accumulator all the way and have double the burn time and also stronger thrust
Cheers
