Nice film Mr. Kwik
My Ju87B have four flights now, and is one of the most docile planes I have ever flown. It have extremely slowflying capabilitys and it's almost impossible to stall.
It's powered by a Saito180 and weights 6500gr. Have added some 100gr of lead in the nose, and it balances at 13,5cm
Take off at half throttle and a quarter for cruising [8D]
Guess I will have a lot of fun with this model together with Mr. Kwiks Stuka.

Now that I think about it, I believe the d version cowl is wider. I bought a b cowl to put on the d version I have, but that spinner looked a little big..I didnt measure the b cowl..I think there are some pics of it a few pages back in this thread..

RE: KMP Stuka-build details
I just got started on my B Stuka tonight. I was wondering if the CG in the manual is correct and if not what should it be. Also what about those leading edge slat things. Where do they attach? Do I just randomly attach them? Which way should they slant? Is there any thing important about the build I should be aware of before starting assembly of the plane or is it pretty straight forward? What weights have these Stukas been coming out at? I built the Typhoon and it came out way heavy ... 23 lbs. Have alot of folks been adding considerable lead to the nose to get her to balance?
Any info would be appreciated.

The balance is off...My first flight was pretty scary...I got rid of the elevator pull-pull and used 1 solid 4-40 rod with a clevis on both ends.I trashed the ca hinges for the elevators and used heavy duty nlon ones....I ended up taking the dive brakes off..Turned out they were making the plane climb. I had them mounted with the slanted mounts facing the back of the wing...Which engine are you planning on using? I'm using a 26 cc gasser. After shifting the ignition battery all the way to the front, and moving the receiver pack forward, I didnt have to add any weight...The total flying weight is around 16 lbs....

DAY 1
I got the wing center section mounted, the landing gear installed and the motor hanging off the firewall. Had to do a little surgery but it worked out nice. Here's a couple pics of the progress.

I got mine from vqwarbirds...I think it only fits the d version. You have to cut the cone for your prop..The real stuka had a 3 blade, I'm running a 18/8 2 blade...

Charles, your questions tells me you havent read single page of this thread. Well, maybe this page. If you are interested, and if you are actually fixing a Stuka ready for fligh....why not read the thread?

kwik,
I am often pressed for time, thats one reason. I dont have hours of free time to read 30 + pages of a thread. Another reason is that for some reason ... since I was young ... reading puts me to sleep. It can be a book, model plane magazine, or a discussion thread ... anything. Just the act of reading puts me right out. So a couple replies and I am drowzy. In fact, I do mostly all my reading ... of any kind .... in the bathroom! If I just had a computer in there ... hmm ...

How's the build coming Charles? In my opinion, the best {
'upgrade' is to not use the pull pull for the elevator. Use a solid metal 4 40 rod with a metal clevis on each end. If one of those cables breaks, the plane is rekitted...

RE: KMP Stuka-build details
Things are going fine so far. Been working on getting the cowling mounted and on the throttle/choke mechanics. I want to built an access hatch on the top forward part of the fuse, behind the firewall. It will be under the cowl but will give me access to that whole "behind the firewall" area. I can use that area for batteries, ignition modules, ballast ... whatever. Maybe I will still use the pull pull but replace the thin wire cable with kevlar. I want to get the throttle servo mounted and connected, the fuel tank plumbed and installed, and the ignition module mounted. Then I will move on to the wings.

If you notice about the pull pull, if anything goes wrong, it will be virtually impossible to repair them on the stabilizer end...I put a full cockpit in mine. A couple pages back are some pics of the installation and what I did with the servos...

I kept the pull-pull setup because it doesn't have any exposed linkage. I really wanted a more scale look. I replaced the flimsy supplied cable with a Dubro cable and linkage. It's more than enough.

BTW,
If anyone has a wing center section, from a damaged wing or whatever (just hack off the wing panels), I would purchase it from you. Let me know.

Here are some pics of todays progress. Ignition module mounted to the underside of the hatch lid I cut out from the top of the fuse behind the firewall. Also shown is the patched up lower fuse which was cut away to make clearance for the Evolution inverted Pitts style muffler. Inside the fuse you can see some of the 11 ply blocks with blind nuts which attach the cowling securely.

RE: KMP Stuka-build details
Hey fellow ESM Stuka pilots and builders. I only posted once before on this forum but have been following it during the building of my plane. I found a lot of the information very useful and now have had about 10 very successful flights on my Stuka. The plane weighed in at about 17 lbs so I was concerned that it would be difficult to fly but the thing really flies well with NO tendency for tip stalling nor any weird flying characterists. I think the two most important tips I got from the forum during building was about the thing being so tail heavy. As you can see from the pics I did everything I could to move the CG forward. Ignition is mounted over the motor [snug fit but works] which helped a lot and I have both receiver batteries and the ignition battery mounted on a tray just behind the firewall. In the end I actually had to ad about an ounce of lead in the tail so there was a little overkill. Muffler instalation was difficult and as you can see I eventually gave up and just made a straight out from brass tubing which is silver soldered. The plane is noisey for sure but the other guys at the field sort of like the effect...maybe takes the place of the dive siren....Ha! The Evolution 26 was chosen because it is the only gasser I could find with the carb sitting on the front...As you can see it makes for a very scale installation with almost no cutouts in the cowl. I wish I had thought about cutting and refiberglassing like the other guy recently posting that actually got a muffler in it but that came too late for me. With this engine and this weight the plane flys very scale like...which is how I like them. You guys that want to climb out vertically forever better put a 50 in it but good luck on that intallation.
The other tip I got that I think is of critical importance was the alignment of the flaps and alerons with the cord of the wing... I lot of guys were complaining about almost uncontrolable pitching and thought it was a CG problem...I had no problem with mine and my CG is 1/2 cm forward of the recommended CG. I would have more flight on it but like most big piston planes there is a lot to do to get it ready when you get to the field...takes me about 45 min to get it together and ready... I also fly electrics and they are so damn easy I really have to force myself not to throw in a battery and fly one of them. Hope some of this helps... PAUL C
