RE: New power for the X... Force 28
I need to buy a tripod or hire a camera man. My son got a job, so he is out, not like he was much help before. I got some pretty good video of him trashing a couple of Savages.
It is a very nice engine to tune though, I am really enjoying that. I put an 086 pipe on it to see how that works, I will try to get some tripod video, if nothing else this week. Glen

Must be, last week was busier than heck and we had much needed rain. I am off today, but forecasting rain for us.... some may be severe... The nice words. I did get to see a huge crane as a result of some recent storm activity. They do not come any larger than this, without being planetary. The engine has been a blast to run and super easy to tune. I just have not been able to get camera/time/truck/together..... This is a Droid Phone video.... Glen

Thats a pretty good size truck crane...my last project we had a 500 ton crane topple over. It had a detachable rolling counterweight with 1 million pounds of potential counterweight. Pretty impressive, but tragic when it came down...lost a boilermaker that morning.

It is supposed to be the world's largest truck crane.

Roughly 50 miles north of us is a wind farm at Concordia Kansas. It was hit by a severe thunderstorm and several blades on the wind mills were broken by hail. They are headed up to replace those blades. The guy I talked to said it burned close to 160 gallons to travel 270 miles. It was an incredible sight and I would love to go see it working.
Had a couple of drizzles blow through today, it was not that bad. I shold have charged up my batteries and tried to run this evening. Anyway, I am sure some decent power videos are coming. Glen

It could be the largest...hard to tell from the video...Truck cranes can only be so big, the crawlers, ringers, and tower cranes are sights to see. I see a lot of cranes in my profession and they are fascinating.

I gave you a link to the company site, their claim is the largest, I suppose there could be a larger one out there.
I used to do crane work and never lost the interest in the machines. One of my high school friends has a crane company now. He just bought a new 100 ton crane, 650,000 dollars. He has plenty sitting around, it is hard to imagine buying more. He deals in millions like I do in tens. I think I chose the wrong career. When the market crashed, more came home than he would like. The yard is looking better now. These are not the kind of investments you want sitting in the yard. Glen

Thats quite a few Hydro's collecting dust...your right, they dont make any money parked like that. Crane rental can be feast or fammon...at one point on my last project we had 32 cranes in operation from hydros, crawlers, and the ringer that replaced the fallen 500 ton...Many of those cranes were supplied by the same outfit. The contractor I was working for rented a I believe 200 ton crawler and it cost them $50k/month and an additional $50k to set up and break down. Used her for 4 months or so...lookin at a $300k bill approximately. Big business, but with our down economy jobs are limited. Should pick up in our area soon.....most coal fired power plants are upgrading their emissions (AQCS) to comply with new EPA regs......slowly but surely pickin up.....SLOWLY

Yep! He has 12 going out to a refinery rebuilding project this week, that will help. Thankfully, he has been in it long enough that most of the cranes are paid for. He sold around 20 large cranes to buyers out of the states. Other countries are where the bulk of the buyers are at this time. I should go see if I can catch that crane at work today, probably not, winds are too high. I think he said the lease was over 2,000 dollars a day, working or not. 65,000 to move it there from its last job in southern Kansas.
I have the day off and the sun is shining brightly, but it is no fun to try to take video with the wind like this. I may go burn some fuel in the Force towards evening, it is supposed to be in the 90's this afternoon.

Agree with the winds.....i tried to shoot vid a few weeks ago and my camera kept blowing off my truck bed. Irritating. Maybe getone of those camera holsters Les Stroud wears on Survivorman and point it the other direction so I dont need 3 hands to drive and shoot vid. Im in Lawrence Ks right now and it is a bit gusty.

Hey BudBud, I just came across what I think is this motor but modded by Clockwork, could you confirm its this engine? https://clockworkracingengines.com/c...4p-wpull-start
I saw a truggy running this engine at a track the other day and I was very impressed, it was almost pulling wheelies! Not great for a racing Truggy but seemed like great power and torque for a Savage!
Thanks

That is it and I am loving mine. My laptop has bit the dust and I am using a small net book to stay in contact. Seems I cannot get a video of this thing to save my butt. It is very snappy, right off idle, wheelies easy and will sit there and idle for a very long time. I wish I could get my son to run my XL with the LRP 30 against it as I think this Force 28 is faster on the ground. He has started working and I cannot get him out for anything. I think maybe being 17 1/2, discovering girls and having a truck to drive might be part of my problem. Right now, dear old Dad is not priority 1. I feel really bad as I know a lot of you guys have been waiting for a video of this engine. Glen

I gave away all of my F4.6 engines and all of my K engines. I still have a couple of Axial 32s and the K5.9 that Tib did. I wish I had an F engine to compare with. I know they both have very nice silky smooth carburetors. As my memory serves me, they are very close. Glen

Hey Bud. Just wondering if you ever got any video of the modded Force, or if you had any reports on the longevity/power/tuning of it? I might would be interested in one for my puller if you had a pretty good opinion on it[8D]

It's a Savage. Nothing breaks easy [&:]
Unless the NEW X4.6s come with the XL's clutch, you'll want to upgrade to a good aluminum (Dynamite Max Life or Mugen) set of clutch shoes and Mugen 1.0 springs.
