I need another engine!!!
I hate my 2.5 engine, my t maxx is 1 month/1 gallon old, I want to pull out that engine and put another one, is not fun run my truck whit that engine, some times over heats, some times runs good, I took the car to the lhs and they say the engine is good, no air leaks or other promblems, but it cant hold a tunning, every time that I want to run the truck I spend a tank in tuning, I have a NTC3 and never have probles whit that engine.
Any knows a good engine for my t maxx? something that can holds the tuning...
thanks to all.

+1 OS are great running engines. There are many different engine available for a maxx. You could even drop in a 3.3 and you'd be suprised at the difference in power. You should seal your traxxas engines, they almost always have problems when people don't seal them.

seal your engine!!
even though you can't find a leak, seal your engine!!!
I could not find a leak, had problems just lke you described above, before you spend the money on a new engine seal yours first. It may save you some money. I was at the same point you were when one of the guys on this site told me to seal my engine. I believe it was Snook or Dave55. Just ask the guys that have been around. My 2.5 holds a good tune.

there are engines and then there are good engines.
i personally have never had to seal an engine and have never had any issues.
however that does not mean that all enegines are the same.
when it comes to sealing an engine i first wonder how long the engine sat in a warehouse and then at the shop before it was actually purchased. the longer they sit the better chance the seals have to shrink or dry rot and crack, causing air leaks.
personally i by new ,usually from www.towerhobbies.com where everything is stored in a climate controled environment preventing the break down/shrinkage/dry rot of seals.
even then when i get them i don't seal with the red high temp RTV that most recomend , i use green slime from team associated so when i have to disassemble for inspection i don't have the giant hassle of cleaning off the RTV.
green slime keeps the seals pliable and prevents shrinking and dry rot.
and has kept me from having issues such as air leaks.
i do this to new engines as well as my older engines.
if i do find that an engine has shrunken seals or cracked seals ,i spend that very small amout of cash and buy new seals to prevent further head aches.
here is a link for green slime.

RE: I need another engine!!!
I am certainly no expert, I only have 3 RCs. 1 engine I had no trouble, it was a cheap Acme truck. The 2nd truck I bought, Traxxas, I had to seal the engine. Hopefully you can seal it and it be OK?

RE: I need another engine!!!
What do you use to seal the engine? Is it as simple as pulling off the head, cleaning and sealing? I know I have a leak in my 3.3 and have some minor issues with tuning. I believe this would fix my problem.
I have never heard about sealing it and am not sure of the process.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

RE: I need another engine!!!
I personally think sealing an engine is more the placebo factor that anything else.....
Traxxas engines use O-rings. They do not leak unless they are torn or damaged. If it is torn or damaged, replace the o-ring so it doesn't leak.
I hate pulling apart a engine that has chunks of RTV everywhere...

The carb throat andpinch bolt is where sealing usually helps the most. I cover that sucker right up. I have a few engines that run so good unsealed I don't dare touch them.
