Appraently only the model with the auto ignitor is affected. I have been using the model with either a a tip or a hose attached... but I will investigate those also just to be safe.

One of the self-igniter types fell over in my shop and the neck of the cylinder started hissing. Too much mechanical advantage placing much force on the neck. It is somewhat top-heavy and unstable on the small foot print also. I still use mine, but I am very careful not to leave the set unsecured when on my bench. When done using it I always unscrew the handle from the cylinder.

People too easily forget that the more powerful a tool the more dangerous it becomes. Be careful out there!

I think that is a key piece of advice for all these small gas torches...

I used to... but have been lazy for guite a few years.... going downstairs now to unscrew all the tops - never know when a cat will knock them off the shelf!

Good info my friend. Thanks. I use the large MAAP tanks from Home Depot, they don't look like they would have this problem. red

What also amazes me is that I was doing a search for something not even related to Mapp Gas. A higher power must have guided my clumsy fingers to where I seen the warnings in a list of data, and seen the Warning. Best Regards, Capt,n
