Is it necessary to use this on your engine? http://www.gohagan.com/pages/customc...r-8-fl-oz.aspx

hey, quick question for jody: Does running avgas affect the warranty of these engines at all? I can get it really easy, and really cheap too. Basically I like the "no smell" characteristics of it and the long shelf life.

With my DLE20cc mounted on an AW PROX260 Freestyle .90 size, I'd get some exhaust mess on the LE of the wing.
So here's one possible fix for that, and it's cheap too!
Haven't test run it yet, so don't yet know of any bad effect(s) if any.
Possibly a 45 degree fitting might be better than this 90 degree.
It's copper plumbing fitting, for 1/2" copper pipe.
You'll need to sand out inside the fitting, and it's a very tight fit!

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
i have a friend who did just that (Yellow F90). He grew tired of breaking it in so he flew it a couple of times (I think 3 times total). He loves it, sold his Saito 125 after the first flight with the 20. He says the Vess 17x6 prop performs the best. He is getting ready to take out the 10oz tank and put in a 6 oz. He said he could fly for about 30 mins with the 10oz tank, and his nerves could not take that much...
I did see all flights, like the way it performed. He ripped the tail off on the last flight (too close to the ground during a harrier).
And, lets put it another way, I prefer glo over gas, and I am considering this engine...

Aero-Works 60-90 - thats the way to go! Hard part is to decide the 260 or 300?
I'm hoping to outfit one of these with a DLE-20 but I'll have to wait and see if I get a year-end bonus before I can afford this.
Looking forward to it.
Where's the best place to get gas accessories such as fuel tank, hand pumps, etc.?

Also, you'll need a stopper for it designed for use with gasoline. Dubro sells them.
For a hand crank pump designed for gas usage, get an MPi (gas/glow). It has far better internals than many others.
You'll also need Tygon gas fuel line, 1/8" I.D.
As you seem new to gassers, it'll be good fo you to read the following thread here on RCU;

Jim,
Thanks for the info...I am new to gassers...and tired of paying $16-$20 per gallon of glow fuel.
So I'm trying to plan out my foray into gas power...listing all the stuff I'll need and finding the best place to get it.
I'll check out that other thread...I've read many threads on gas power already...what can it hurt to read another one? <g>
Sincerely,
Mike

I've got a MACs 90-1.20 pipe. I'll buy a header and see what I get out of it. If it is stupid power, then I'm going to buy a plane that I can put a pipe on. Hopefully the Ultra Stick 60 will come back into production next spring. It sounds like that is fun plane for the DLE 20.

hey, quick question for jody: Does running avgas affect the warranty of these engines at all? I can get it really easy, and really cheap too. Basically I like the "no smell" characteristics of it and the long shelf life.

Has anyone tried the DLE 20 on an H9 Hellcat? I have run the Zenoah G-20 on that plane and it flew great. Landings were hot due to heavy weight. DLE 20 looks to be about 12 oz lighter than G-20. Perhaps better match for those that want to run gas.

Will you have good prop-to-ground clearance for a 16-18" prop?
Do understand that when asking if anyone has tried this in such & such a model, that this DLE20cc being so new, we're all venturing into the unknown.
For others contemplating a H9 Hellcat, you'll be waiting for one well after their predicted Feb 2011 restock date......say July?[&o]

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
I flew mine 2x tonight with the Vess 17-6 and on this sub 8 pound Ultra Stick 60 it is so fun! It uses (literally) about 5 feet of runway, then I pull it straight up and do full rate aileron rolls while accelerating vertically, then do a hammerhead when it started getting small. Another gent at the club has the same plane with an OS 75AX and he is just going wow (he actually said something else)! The 17-6 is really a good match for this engine, huge power, good speed and it slows down nicely for landing. The thing about it is, it just does not use any gas! I now fill it up at home (10oz) and after 2 flights of about 8-10 minutes each with lots of throttle, I had almost 1/2 a tank left! Also after the first flight, it started with one flip of the prop for the 2nd flight, about 30 minutes later. It even idles nicely, I don't know what more you would want from it. I think it would easily pull a a warbird up to 70 inch and make the G20 look like chopped liver. I might get an ESM A-1 Skyraider and would not hesitate to try this DLE20 on it.
