Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
I was just now looking at the BobCat on the Raidentech website. I can't tell whether retracts come standard with this plane or not. The specs call for 8 servos but they do NOT mention a retract servo. For $129.95 it probably does not come with retracts installed. Awesome plane though and the price is right. However, you generally get what you pay for.

Hello,
Does any one know if this BOBCAT JET comes with fixed gear or retracts. If it comes with retracts are they included ? thanks ! !
Thinking of buying one myself ! !

NIB is New In Box and they come with either fixed gear or set up for retracts. They don't always specify which one they have and you could get eith when ordering, Nitro used to have a catagory for which one you want but now it seems you can never find it in stock there.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
Put 2 more flights on my Bobcat this weekend. I cant fly it at our field as the strip is not suitable yet so its only when I go out to the desert that is is flown.
It was radar-ed at 94MPH with a APC 11x7 that has been minorly reduced in size due to debris damage, I would say its about 10.75x7 now.
I finally got to try the rudders today! I have always been so nervous flying this thing I had never tried them but on the last flight I felt really relaxed and played around a little. They are NOT needed and am going to pin them in place to reduce the AUW.
Had a few awesome passes at full speed less that 10' altitude with great banking pull outs.
Now it Nitroplanes ever gets these back in stock I want to build a new one with retracts now that feel used to how it flys.

3 more flights yesterday. New radar speed of 113 with the same prop as above. Was a much better pass at the gun, straight at us and 10' above us!

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
Ineed help on my Bob Cat 50, I am all most finished, however my kit is missing the screws used to mount the horizontal Stab to the 2 tail booms. The manual states that they are 4-25mm but those are too big. Anyone have a later model kit that can tell me what size I need.
Thanks

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
Looks like a Rhom Air retract.
Looks like you have broken the piston shaft right where the thread starts at the nylon slider.
You can make a new shaft from 1/8 silver steel rod, all you have to do is cut a thread on the ends.
The trick is to drill out the slider a little so the thread does not start where it enters the slider but inside the slider a little. - John.

Thing is the nylon slider isn't in great shape either and I'd like to replace it while it's out.
.. and I can't find any info on Rohm-Air. Did they go away?

Not sure on their status, I thought they were still in business but the retract you have is very old (1980's?)
Someone locally may be able to help you out, the repair is very simple for anyone with access to a lathe.
You may be able to pick up some second hand spares in the US. Try a post in the scale or pattern flyers
threads, most jet flyers use bigger/more complicated/more expensive/newer retracts than these. - John.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
Met a friend today and we flew our Cats.
First time I have tried to fly it on the abanded street where we meet but the trees and street lights were a non issue.
First fligt I spent 3 minuets buzzing around at full throttle and then a few minuets getting used to how slowly it can fly with the spoilerons out.
Both landings were with jet like nose high attitude and the roll out wasn't more than 60'.
This thing lands slower than my classic pattern plane.
I was nervous about flying on the street with the trees, curbs and lights but the plane tracks straight and true so I will enjoy making it a regular flyer there.
