Default What's so good about Dean's Plugs?

I have them on my HPIVorza and I'm not exactly impressed by them, the surface area is small to solder 8-10ga wire from my lipo's, plus they're expensive.

Are there better alternatives that can handle the higher amps and voltage too?

They are the most common type of "polar" connector, meaning they can only be plugged in the right way. If you are skilled at all with soldering, they are easy to use and don't get brittle and fall apart like some other connectors do. Doesn't mean they're the absolute best you can get, but they are pretty good value and are what comes with most Lipo batteries these days.

Although the Deans plugs are good quality, I agree with you in that they are a very high markup item. Think that came about when they were the only decent plug on the market. Then a china company made a copy with improved pull apart ability. Deans sued and the china firm was forced to quit. Deans won? Not in my view. Hobby King engineers went to work and designed a superior plug that is less than 1/10 th the cost, easier to solder and plugs in and removes much better IMHO, the XT 60. I recently standardized all my batteries, controller and motor systems and completed the job for much less time and money. I would not have done that with the high cost of Deans. XT 60's are used in my stuff well, up to 60 amps. Doubt if I ever build anything larger that that. Its not just a buying "American " issue, or quality. Have always felt ripped off when buying Deans stuff.

you're right, the XT60 looks like a smarter design with a much better protective covering.

Why not try Sermos/Anderson Power Poles? I've used them for years.

Those XT60's look great tho, I'll try those out soon.

XT 60 or EC3 is the way to go. Deans are rubbish
