I would not suggest a smoke system for the 60-90 size planes. It is just too heavy for a small airplane.

What servos is everyone using with this plane? I was thinking about some Hitech HS-5485HB all around. I'm not a 3Der but will be wringing it out I'm sure.

We used one Fromeco regulator.

Mark, did you get a regulator with two outputs?
I am thinking I will use 1 2600 mah lion pack to a fromeco badger switch and then the switch to the regulator,1 output on the regulator to the ignition and the other output to the receiver.
Hope that makes sense, just never used 1 battery for ignition and receiver.
Jeff
Any voltage regulators?

RE: 60-90 Extra 300 on Gas
Question for Mark Dennis:
I have order your Extra 300 and DLE 20cc combo and like it was asked by bells33, i would like to know if you have an idea concerning the installation of the Jtec "Compact Wrap Around Pitts Muffler for DL 20 (1.25" Diameter Can)" . Could it fit or is the engine box in the way?
Thanks

Unfortunately I do not know weather the wrap around muffler will work. From what I have heard in regards to the size of the muffler it will be a tight fit if it fits at all. Is there any specific reason for not using the muffler included with the DLE? It fits well and is the lightest option by far.

You have a point there, did not think about the weight... What i had in mind is, and correct me if i am wrong, the pitts is probably less noisy and require a smaller opening in the cowling.
So i will keep the weight and costs at minimum
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

RE: 60-90 Extra 300 on Gas
I bought the AW Extra 300 60-90 back in September. I have to say it's a beautiful airplane. I installed the DLE-20cc gas engine, 17x6 prop, and 8oz fuel tank. I'm running a single Fromeco 2300 lithium ion battery for both ignition and receiver and a Fromeco regulator. With everything installed it comes in at 8.6 pounds which puts it at a wing loading of about 30. It's heavy, and before my first flight I was pretty nervous about the weight and loading. After a few flights and getting the 20cc dialed in, Iwas amazed at how this plane really slows down on final without any tendency to drop a wing. It flies like it has a much lighter wing loading. And forget about full throttle, it's not for the faint of heart. It rips across the sky in the blink of an eye. It will maintain a vertical climb at half throttle. For a little fun, I strapped in my Garmin wrist GPS to see just how fast this thing would go. After a few flights I downloaded the data and got a max straight and level speed of 116mph. No joke. I've built probably 30 airplanes over the last 15 years and I have to say this airplane/engine combination is by far the most fun to fly. I wouldn't say it's purpose-built for one thing or another, like 3D or IMAC. I wouldn't call it a great 3D because I think it's a little heavy for some of the 3D maneuvers (even with the huge power from the 20cc). But if you want something that you bring to the flying field that puts an ear to ear grin on your face after every flight, then this is the plane for you. It looks great, flies amazing, sounds unbelievable ripping across the field at 100mph+, and flares out nicely for nice slow and gentle landings.
I do have to say that this is my first Aeroworks plane and I'll probably never buy from any other manufacturer. The quality of this QB is so much better than any other ARF I've put together. It takes abuse too. The field my club flies at is a parcel of privately owned land within a corn field. At the end of the growing season, all that's left is the base of the stalks sticking out of the ground. It's a small field (100' by 50') and on a few my landings I've touched down and then overshot the end of the field, being abruptly stopped by the corn stalks. The plane has even flipped over a few times and absolutely no damage at all.
Overall a great product.
