Default Viper landing gear mod

After finishing the Viper conventional tail version, I thought I'd work on the fuse with the busted landing gear. I've only broke one landing gear out, but that's enough! I used 1/4" ply and replaced the stock one. If only Great Planes would use some of our mods to make these better, or just offer a kit...
Still need to finish the bottom sheeting.

I usually just glass the inside of the landing gear block with 4oz glass and install 1/4 20 nylon bolts. Never had any issues with this mod.

I will do that on the next one, but since this one was busted out, I replaced it.

Default RE: Viper landing gear mod

In addition to pulling the landing gear block out of the fuselage, we also used to loose the wheels off the axles. Our fix for this problem was to solder washers on the end of the axles to hold the wheels on.

The best solution is to throw the Viper landing gear away and replace it with one from Darrol Cady.
