Affordable 1/6 Sherman tank
For the same price as a Tamiya 1/16 Leopard 2A6, you can soon get a 1/6 RTR Sherman. Price allegedly is $849 shipped to US. Don't know any other details though.

A pic of the factory:

1/6 is too big for me space-wise, but I thought I'd give you guys a heads up.

RE: Affordable 1/6 Sherman tank
I found it on a toy forum where a guy inquired about the pricing. It looks like it has the details of a Mark I-quality tank. Can't wait to see a video of one in action.

Ouch, and they apparently are making different versions of the Sherman as well. Wish I have the space and money for this.

They won’t be to the same standard as Mark 1 Tanks models they are more an introduction level like the 21st Centaury Stuart, and talking of Mark 1 Tanks he’s getting an electric version in for evaluation and if it comes up to scratch he will then offer them for sale priced around £1500 the petrol version will probably be a lot of work to keep running, I think they would have been better off selling a PzIV or Stug III though they could be next if the Sherman is a seller

This has been around before on an earlier post & I've seen the actual model (I happen to know the owner of Fuyuan).
If you're familiar with ProBoat's RC boat line, that will be the quality you can expect since they get most of their product line from Fuyuan. Its decent quality & the gas models shouldn't be any harder to maintain if its anything like the boats I've seen Fuyuan put out. If IMEX sees enough interest & adds it to their line, you may see these appearing in local hobby shops around the States.

I still think it's great. wish somebody would do a full line of these. German and British armor also. A Panther and Cromwell would be so super sweet.

I don't know that that is especially true. I am a ic engine power kind of guy but that aside I have both electric and gas/glow powered tanks and engine powered doesn't always = more work to keep running. Glow powered yes, more work but the ignition engine types ( industrial / "weed eater" types ) are quite low maintenance actually. I believe, but not certain that this Sherman has an ignition type engine.

Jerry, I was assuming wrongly that the engine would be of poor quality, also depending on where in the world you live the petrol version won’t be allowed to operate indoors.
I have just been informed that there will be an initial Tiger I, this is in the process of being built and tested so there is no availability date and I expect that it will be of similar price to the Sherman, anyone interested should start saving the Sherman is almost ready for delivery

I'd like to see a video of the electric option. The gas sounds like a weed wacker.

Agreed, these need electric and a good quality sound system.

At £1500 each the current exchange rate is $2400 not less than £1000, though still makes them very cheap for a 1/6 tank, as I understand the electric version requires more development before it will be ready

Perhaps a serious restrictor/muffler setup would tame that nest of angry bees, and help reduce to scale speed a little.

I would never think to run them (any ic powered model) indoors; I know you mean indoor exhibition and the like. I almost never
run mine indoors anywhere. I've only run the glow powered models twice indoors, once on a television set and another time at
an RC convention.... this last was on the way to a run area outdoors. Did run a gasoline ( umm petrol ) powered
one indoors once at the same rc convention to get outdoors. The RC convention was an early 1980s event; probably regulations
are a lot tighter everywhere now. I know that the power source of my larger models restricts their theater of operations but
so far that has not been an issue for me.
I would hope no one might think I run them in my house... ahh no. The glow engines are run rich on purpose and they make a goodly amount of smoke especially when cold. ( one good side effect is I've never considered a need for a smoker!)
I've been impressed with the quality of items coming from China and have no doubt whatever engine they put in this model will be fine.
I'd like to see one close up. I don't happen to be interested in 1/6, too large for me, otherwise this might be really interesting.

Have you finished your Leo yet? Anymore pics? I've been working on mine for a few weeks.
Waiting for the right weather conditions to paint is slowing me down.
