RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
ok i have some questions and want you to know this is my 2nd hobby grade rc (unless you count a mirco dt) and might do some racing later as i have a track about 20 minutes from where i live.
ok so my questions are, would you go brushless or run it stock or get a decent brushed motor. and if brushless, would you get an ezrun or get one of the new sidewinder sv2's when they come out. and upgrades i already plan on are a cheap 2.4g set and offroad tires, since stockers wear semi quick it seems. and im just planning ahead, wont be able to open it untill christmas. and if i get brushed or run stock, do you think i should get lipo's and lvc or just run nihm's? and if nihm's what would you suggest?
sorry for all the questions and thanks.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Most people in here would recommend going brushless - even a good brushed motor won't compare power-wise to brushless. There is less maintenance with brushless too. Lipo's are also the best to run as well but there are some safety risks with them so get a lipo storage/charging bag. You also need to get a better charger than you would with NiMH. Lipo and brushless is worth it - trust me.
Is anyone in here even running a brushed system?
I prefer Castle systems (or any of the popular north american brands) over the EZ-run but some people swear by EZ run. I personally run a mamba max pro esc and have a CC CM36-4600kv motor (I havn't run it yet, just switched from a Novak Ballistic) and I am eyeing the new four-poles.
Most ESCs have a low voltage cutoff built in.
Something I found browsing:
You can run a 3s on the 5700 motor, unlike the original Sidewinder that was limited to 2s on the 5700.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
yeah i saw that the new sv2 combo's can run 5700kv with a 3 cell would probably super hot but could be super fast for like a speed run then cool down

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I am guessing Castle is eliminating the mamba max and replacing it with the new sidewinder so there are now two ESC's - one sensored (the pro) and one not sensored?

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Castle says it runs 3s. It sounds like the new sidewinder has similar abilities to the mamba max although I don't know the current rating for it. The old one was 70 and I think the max is 100 (or is it 150?). Castle doesn't like to use publish current ratings because they measure performance differently.

well, they have a $100 price which is the cheapest i have saw a name brand set and if it does have power close to a mamba max is surprising in a way to me.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I am just thinking out loud here. The mamba max is gone and there are two ESCs now, the pro and sidewinder2. If they up the current capacity of the sidewinder it bridges the gap between the old sidewinder and the mamba max more. One of the sidewinder or mamba max was redundant. The mamba max had similar output to the mamba max pro but was sensorless which is redundant since the mamba max pro runs sensored and sensorless motors. Its not hard to see that there is only a need for two esc's

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Now seen all this discussion I'm wondering if I can use my original Sidewinder Motiv 1/10 ESC with the 4600KV and CM36S that I got with 3S lipos.
Is the original Warp 5700KV motor also a CM36S?
If I have to change the ESC I wouldn't like to lose the castlelink option. So I would prefer to let the 4600 in stand by until I can invest more seriously in this matter and get the Mamba Max Pro ESC.

...well, checked speed and gearing chart on Castle site and they say it's possible if I use the Largest spur gear (88T ?) and between 14-19T pinion.
But that seems to apply for Rustler and XXX-T.
By the way, what XXX-T stands for ?
Has anyone tried this setup before in the Storm Flux?

Thats more then enough amps for any 2wd 1/10 scale Rc....
ORIGINAL: AL3xGR
4500mah and 25C constant(112.5 A constant) isn't enough....For about 5$ more you can get a batteryrated for 200A constant.
Zippy Flightmax 5000mAh 40C 2s(or 3s,but it costs more)
2s isn't bad for a truck like this...

I am not sure what you are trying to say, First you said 112.5 amps was not enough to which I replied it was more then enough, You don't need 200 amps in a 2wd 1/10 RC.
That being said the Nano-tech 25-50c is more then enough battery.

Flux esc is rated for 60-70A constant.I want to say that if 100A for a battery is enough, you can get a cheaper battery than nanotech(flightmax series)

If anyone cares, Losi launched a separate website for their race vehicles on the weekend.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I have a coupon for a castle field card for $10 or castle link for free. Going with the field card since I have the link already. Has anyone used one? Its supposed to have the same functionality as the link.

I have the field card. It has settings for Cutoff voltage, auto lipo shut off, drag brake, brake strength, punch control, reverse type, motor type, and motor timing cheat. It works just fine, kinda handy.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
guyzzzz,
Could you tell me how I can fix flux motiv ESC as the middle orange light is not on on any setting???
And in your opinion the ESC from blur version would fit or not? This one originally fitted to HPI Bullet.
If I can't fix it then maybe someone want to buy HPI 5700KV motor)
Re: running in snow.... I had great fun in snow with sand pows on!!!! Go you r worth it!!!
