Default Nimh battery overdrain?

I accidentally set the discharge to 1v on my accuel 6 charger. The charger got really hot at first then it stayed that way. Later i realized that the 1v meant discharge the battery to 1v. The charger shows the battery at 5.6v, as a nimh, will it be damaged? or is it still good.

If it's around 6 cells then it's still good and should be tested.

It is normal to discharge NiMh and NiCad's packs down to 1v and charge them up again.

NiCad's should be stored discharged, and NiMh should be kept toped up. Give them a nice slow charge (500 mAh) every month or 2.

So just charge them up again and they will be fine.
