I was wondering if a Traxxas high torque 2055 servo would work for the steering?

yep. that kinda servo will work. it should have just as much toque, if not alittle more than the stock one. i would look for a 2075 waterproofed servo if i was gonna replace the stocker tho.

i think a 3kg servo will be too weak. the stock one is 6kg
